What I’m sure I can safely say that a hell of a lot of people have been waiting for for quite some time: the story of what happened to Ursa, a.k.a. Zuko’s Mum.

-

Dark Horse are wrapping up their three part graphic novel series “The Promise” set after the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender, and have announced that writer of The Promise: Gene Luen Yang and Girihiru Studios will be returning to work on another series of graphic novels; The Search.

The tafuta will primarily focus of the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Ursa, the mother of Prince Zuko and Princess Azula, it will also reveal details of Azula’s fate following the end of the Hundred Years War, including her imprisonment in a moto Nation mental institution and the effects this has had on her.

According to an interview with writer Yang, unlike Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra, The Promise, etc. The tafuta will take the moto nation royal children as the main focus, while Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph and co. will still be around and featuring, they will have less prominent roles than usual.

Yang has also stated that “I’m happy to say, uandishi “The Search” is giving me the chance to explore that side [the ‘supernatural’ side] of Aang and his world.” alluding to such events as (Spoilers for A:TLA Series 1 finale) the siege of the Northern Water Tribe and Aang’s journey into the spirit world, along with how this will define it from the awali series The Promise which focused on the political ramifications of the end of the Hundred Years War.

Yang has confirmed that The tafuta takes place immediately after the end of The Promise.

I for one am incredibly excited to finally have the mystery of Ursa’s disappearance revealed! Having already purchased and loved the first two parts of The Promise, I have faith that The tafuta will be absolutely stunning, loyal to the Avatar universe and doing great justice to the events, characters and themes of Avatar.
Getting to see how Azula’s defeat and mental breakdown has changed her over the time before The tafuta (I’m here assuming that Azula has been in the “unnamed moto Nation mental institute” for the entire time period of The Promise - which is a little over a year)

Azula on Top. (NO OFFENSE IF U LIKE ZUKO)

Okay, so one of the things i upendo best about this onyesha was the way in which it had a subtle commentary on gender roles. I know, wewe may ask "so, what?" au "why is this important?" Well, I'll tell you.

Often, females are portrayed as supporting characters to the all-important male protagonist. Here, this is not the case. While i am indeed a guy, i like to see that screenwriters have progressive attitudes when it comes to gender roles. If wewe notice, Katara is the one who brings Aang along with her, not the other way around. Often, she plays the teacher and not the damsel in distress.

Toph is,...

Chapter six: Team avatar

It was 8 a.m. I was running around the house going berserk trying to make it perfect for the team avatar. Zach sat at the meza, jedwali texting this new kid named Micheal who he alisema was related to Aang and Zuko. Now Zach calls me Micheal's grandpa. Technically I'm not but Aang was my incarnation and Aang was Micheal's grandfather. Still I ngumi, punch Zach in the shoulder whenever he calls me grandpa.

"Sydney don't stress. Its just gonna be a bunch of old dudes." he said.

"AND ITS GONNA BE OUR GREAT SOMETHING GRANDFATHER!!"

"Granpa?" Jason asked walking downstairs from his slumber....

She watched the girl, Xul, crumble for days. She was only 16. There wasn’t really much she could do aside from holding her close and telling her that it would pass eventually.

It was a rough job really, the job she did, trying to help those suffering from what everyone else called the ‘the insanity’ they were “crazy”, “sick”, “unlovable”. She much preferred to call to think of them as those who just needed someone to tell them are cared about…loved. A good number of her patients were in a state of distress pretty much all the time, Xul was one of them. These patients (young...
