I feel as though a lot of people are under the impression that Ozai treated Azula nicely. Yes he did indeed buy her all these nice things but at the end of the siku she was pretty much just a pawn to him. Azula may have had her father's respect, but it didn't seem like she had his love.

While yes--as far as we know--Ozai never put his hands on Azula, the verbal abuse was apparent. She is afraid of him. Whist we haven't really seen him abuse her verbally I think it was hinted when he yelled at her before declaring himself the phoenix king. I also couldn't imagine he let her down easy behind the scenes after Zuko informed him that Aang wasn't really dead and she lied to him.

She was afraid of him. In that scene (in the comet) when he's yelling at her wewe can tell that she's afraid. wewe can see it in her eyes; fear and disappointment. Along side that scene I have this book where Sozin's comet is told from the points of view of the characters. This chapter was from Azula's POV. In it she says something along the lines of "he looks really angry, I've never spoken to my father like this before, is he going to punish me how he punished Zuko?' She's literally wondering if he's going to burn her face off for asking to go with him. A child should fear that his/her father is going to burn his/her face. Even though he respects her (for the most part) Azula still doesn't put it past him to nothurt her.
Going again back to an above scenario. Why would she lie to her father about herself being the one to kill Aang? Now I may be kusoma to much into it but; that glory turning to shame thing is probably only a fraction of her motives. I mean really who would be ashamed of Azula for not taking the Avatar down? She's the princess, she took Ba Sing Se. The only person I can think who would give her a hassle for it is Ozai. She gave Zuko credit for killing Aang because she was afraid of how her father would treat her if he found out Aang was in fact alive. As mentioned above, I can't imagine that he'd go easy on her. It's what happens behind the scenes that counts. I'm kind of surprised that Azula's fate upon Zuko exposing her lie was so overlooked kwa the fandom.

Which leads me to my inayofuata point; wewe shouldn't have to earn your father's love. It should be unconditional. I think most everything Azula has done was to impress her father and gain his affections from taking Ba Sing Se to going at Aang and perfecting her bending. She even named Omashu for him; the city of new Ozai. I also think she bullied Zuko to impress and be like her father--this is something Zuko always got sympathy points for (doing what he did to get Ozai love). And the sad part is she kept doing so which goes to onyesha that it was working...and moreover that her political success and bending mastery were the only things that got her his love. And it wasn't even really genuine love.

Nope, even then he was pretty much just using Azula. She was like a pawn. Up until the very end her sent her out to do his bidding for him. She sent her to capture her brother and to take Ba Sing Se. Sound familiar? Ozai did the same thing to Zuko in sending him to go get the Avatar for him. Ozai uses both of his children and he does so without regret. And both listened because all they wanted was his approval. And as stated above Azula did everything he asked but at the end of the siku he took her idea (to burn everything to the ground) and left her behind. Sure he gave her the firelord title, but he only did so because he knew he was gonna be the all powerful phoenix king. Once that happened, 'firelord' was just an empty title with nothing to it. And he knew it. He just tossed it to Azula to shut her up. And that's not right.

Which leads me to my last point, and this is something that bugs me zaidi than all else. Going once zaidi back to the phoenix king scene; when Azula was standing before him it was so apparent that she was already starting to slip. wewe can see it in her eyes that she was tired. That something was off. She had faint bags under her eyes and her voice didn't seem as calm. Ozai didn't even seem to notice. How can wewe look at your own daughter and not realize something was wrong? And wewe know what, maybe he did notice. And that makes it all the worse because; How can wewe look at your daughter in such a state and just leave her?! Moreover how could wewe place the stress of ruling a kingdom (even for that short time before it became a useless title) on someone who's already at her breaking point. If he caught on to her fragile state the fact that he had literally no issue departing...no hesitation at all whatsoever is disgusting. The negligence right there kills me. And kwa all means negligence is a form of child abuse. Again, this may just be me kusoma too much into it but; perhaps when Lo and Li come to check on Azula the reason she asks if her father sent them to see how she's doing could be out of wishful thinking. She wants to think her father was concerned. I can also interpret that as proof of one of the above paragraphs; she just wanted her father's love. Nothing she did was good enough for him and he just wanted zaidi and more. Either which way it doesn't paint Ozai in a good light. As he was taking over the world his daughter was losing herself. Losing her mind.

I'm not saying any of this takes away from the fact that Zuko was abused, not at all. However I am saying that Zuko wasn't the only victim of his father's cruelty.

Lol they are played by the same person!!? OMG1 Azula died and became a mushroom in the next life!
So one of my good buddies pointed out that Azula is one of my only inayopendelewa characters that I have not written a 'Why I Like' makala for. And I though "what the heck, why not" and decided to type it up.

I'll start off with the very basic and semi-shallow reason to like her. I think she's really pretty. Of course this is not the only reason as to why I like her and is certainly not the most prominent nor important. But I think she is simply gorgeous. The long blackish-brown hair is great and as deceiving as she. Lol, it's deceiving because it looks short when it's tied up but it really isn't....

Avatar: The Last Airbender is an extremely beloved animated series, that has three seasons. Due to usually disliking maarufu things and having an odd enjoyment for hated things, I kept avoiding this show. I thought I wouldn't enjoy it, but I'm glad I was wrong.

I was planning on ranking the three seasons, but I decided it would make the most sense to go in order. If wewe haven't seen each season, wewe might want to avoid kusoma this article, because there will be spoilers.

Book One

Book One had a lot going against it. In order to keep the show's main villain, Ozai, a mysterious threat, he basically...

The Last Airbender is a 2010 action film that was based on a beloved onyesha of the same name. The film got really bad reviews, but I actually really liked the film.

I only saw clips of the animated onyesha before watching the live action film so I'm judging this film kwa itself instead of comparing it to the show. I still haven't watched any full episodes, but I did enough research to understand the plot and characters.

The film focuses on Aang who's the avatar. He's discovered kwa a duo of siblings, Katara and Sokka, who become his friends. It's up to them to save the world from the evil moto Nation....

The zaidi days that passed, the wearier Azula grew. She was tired of long flights on Appa listening to the Water Tribe siblings bicker. She was tired of setting up camp on chilly nights. And of finding some space to sleep that provided enough distance from the gang. But that always left her a distance from the moto and heaven forbid she tried to start her own.

She was tired of sleeping cold.

Most of all she was tired of trying to sleep with her mother talking so loudly in her ear.

Azula folded her arms over her chest, waiting for the Avatar and his Marafiki to mount Appa. She huffed in disgust....

With each step Azula felt her body grow zaidi and zaidi weary. Each and every one of her footfalls zaidi wobbly than the next.

Tang-Shin was leading her down a hall that was just as bleak as every other. She wondered how the man navigated the place—everything looked the same to her; white au yellowing-white, lined with tightly sealed doors, and a floor that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in millenniums. She chose to ignore the alarming red splotch near one of the doors.

Was that what she had been sleeping on?

She shuddered.

They reached the end of the hall where stood a giant knobless door....

With a rose in her hair she stood with her forehead against the wall.

They couldn’t make her move.
She wouldn’t do it.

They would pass kwa and whisper of how uncomfortable that looked. And how she’d maintained the position for well over an hour.

What else had she to do.

With a rose in her hair she stood with her forehead pressed against the wall.

She couldn’t exactly name what bound her to that spot on the wall. But it was something deep. Something complex. And oh so very coaxing.

She stood there and just listened to the voices. They’d actually become rather soothing.

After sometime she’d...

It was a cold night.

It always was. What was to be expected of the Water Tribe?

Sokka was the one to suggest going there; apparently the man was feeling homesick. After much whining and begging on his behalf, Azula found herself packing her things and attaining a ship bound for the Southern Water Tribe.

Sokka was zaidi than eager to teach her of the Water Tribe culture as she had taught him of the moto Nation.

But as of now, Azula was too cold to learn au retain any information. Her hands and cheeks were reddened kwa the frosty air, body trembling slightly (despite her efforts to suppress the shivers),...

The dagger slid gracefully back into her grasp…sword not far behind. With an equally graceful bow, Sooyoung sheathed the sword.

Aang had never heard anyone clap as Sokka did at that moment.

“She’s amazing!” Sokka declared.

“Isn’t she?” Cheng smiled.

“Hey! You’re Cheng, you’re Sooyoung’s husband!” Sokka shouted.

“Well thanks for reminding me.” The man laughed.

“Is she your daughter?” Katara pointed.

“She is indeed. This is one of the first times she’s gotten to see her mother preform, and she’s already aspiring to be a sword’s master.”

“That’s so cute.”...

The little boy tugged at the hem of his mother’s dress.

Apparently the boy had decided that she wasn’t paying him enough attention.

She didn’t mean to blow the child off, she’d simply fell asleep and Lost track of the time. It only took about fifteen dakika for the boy to realize his mother forgot about what she promised him. And only a minute’s hesitation after that before tugging at her clothing, jumping on her bed, and screaming her name.

“Come on! Come on! Mama, wewe promised.”

Azula heaved herself up. “Did I really?” She asked with a yawn. Eyes still closed, despite her...

“Azula, Shou tells me you’ve been talking to them again.” Lu-Ming stated.

“She’s lying.” Azula intended to answer as vaguely as possible.

“Lying?” Lu-Ming questioned.

“Yes.”

“And why would she lie?”

“Because she doesn’t like me…” Azula trailed off. She already alisema too much.

“Azula, it’s not healthy to just assume everyone hates you. Like you’re mother, she…”

“I wish to go back to my room now.” Azula cut him off.

“We are going to have to talk about her eventually.” It wasn’t an empty threat, it was a promise. This wasn’t the first time Lu-Ming...

Read the parts before this to understand what's happening.

Well, homework was done and I was totally bored out of my mind. There was nothing on t.v and I was sitting on my kitanda thinking of what to do with Kayla tomorrow. This was happening until, my leg vibrated. I got a text from Eli, "Dude wewe gotta get over here fast!! It's urgent!!!!!!!!!!!!!" That's my cue. I flew threw my room getting my shoes on and a black hoodie. I left a note for my folks, and I ran out of the door. I got into the slow elevator and listened to the jazzy muziki playing. I was alone one the elevator. Fine kwa me. "C'mon,...

Shining blue light. Thats exactly what hit my brain the moment I heard her unforgettable words. I was falling, falling into nothing of blue light. It was blinding. I wanted to push out a scream but no scared sound left my lips.

Suddenly, I landed on a hard mass of burnt rock. Around me it was warm, and that warmness wasn't very welcoming. I felt a sensation of something lurking around, like a cat pouncing on a mouse.

"Hello?" I wanted to yell out. But oddly that sound didn't come out either. I wanted to cry. Where was I? I thought I was in my backyard with May. I swear I was. Unless it was...

With my eyes glowing blue and a burst of electric power filling every inch of my body I was vulnerable. But I wasn't scared. And anyway, I wasn't about to kill this girl, that would be a bit violent. So instead I froze her in a gigantic block of ice and earth bended it all the to my house's back yard. We needed some maswali to be answered.

After I texted Sam to come help me I tried to heal Aang with my water bending. I had always had trouble with water bending. It was my opposite element. I hated it. Ice.....snow.....water....they are such cold forms. They put out fires. They have no life....
