Grammy Predictions 2017: Adele And Beyonce Lead Pack Of Likely Nominees For Album Of The Year

Amid stories of The Chainsmokers finally slipping from the No. 1 spot on the Hot 100 after 12 incredible weeks to the ascension of viral smash “Black Beatles” by Rae Sremmurd and the hyped-up American Music Awards, there has been a lot going on in music in the past few days. With so much to pay attention to, it’s possible that three recently-released singles from big-name acts may have flown under the radar for many people. That’s bound to happen from time to time, but this trio of tunes aren’t just typical catchy, fun tracks—they all have the potential to explode and become serious hit singles.
If you haven’t had a chance to listen to these three songs just yet, give them a go now, before they work their way up the charts and you’re behind the times.
Britney Spears – “Slumber Party (ft. Tinashe)”
The second official single off Brit’s latest album
Glory has finally arrived, perhaps a bit later than it could have, but that’s still better than nothing. The pop star is really making a go for the top of the charts with her new track “Slumber Party,” and she could really use it. Lead Glory cut “Make Me…” didn’t end up being the smash she and her team probably thought it was going to be, and it dropped off the Hot 100 weeks ago. The same has already happened to the album, and only a true Spears smash can turn this era around for her. The reworked single version of “Slumber Party” features R&B star Tinashe, who also co-starred in an ultra-sexy music video, which has become Spears’ calling card. The song isn’t the catchiest effort the pop star has ever unleashed, but there is a lot of buzz surrounding “Party” already, and with a lack of these kinds of singles on the charts right now, Glory could fight another day, and Britney could make her way back up towards the top.
One of the biggest names in guitar pop is finally back after taking some time off from his solo musical career to work with other acts and pursue other ventures. Mayer dropped “Love On The Weekend” a few days ago, and fans are already excited to hear that Mayer has returned to the style that made him a star in the first place. After two albums that saw him trying his hand at Americana-leaning tunes, both of which charted well but didn’t produce many hits to speak of, the artist seems to be making another push for charting glory and radio dominance. With contemporaries like Ed Sheeran and Jason Mraz all off cycle at the moment, there could be an opening for Mayer to make waves with his anti-electronic pop/rock. It’s been six years since he’s broken into the top 40, so it’s about time his name rose to prominence yet again.
Grace VanderWaal – “I Don’t Know My Name”
The most recent winner of America’s Got Talent isn’t wasting a single second when it comes to starting her career, despite the fact that she’s only 12 years old. The show wrapped back in mid-September, and already VanderWaal has a single out and her debut EP planned for a street date of December 2. The talented singer, songwriter and musician auditioned with her original tune “I Don’t Know My Name,” and it not only got her through with ease, it helped her become a fan favorite from the first strum. It’s not clear how much promotion a song like “I Don’t Know My Name” will receive from her label, but don’t discount this quirky, heartfelt composition, as these are the kinds of unique voices that the public can gravitate towards from time to time, and VanderWaal’s star power and potential is undeniable.
