I started this club because of my deep interest and involvement in performing as a burlesque artist. At the moment I've gathered about a dozen other burlesque artists and we are making appearances as BonVivant Burlesque. Currently we have an absinthe-themed onyesha which is simply delicious.
For your edification:
1) Burlesque artists are NOT strippers, although many elect to remove a piece of costume to reveal tantalizing flesh.
2) Burlesque is about a performance and about relating to the audience in both a sexy and jovial manner.
3) Nice women do burlesque too. I'm one of them. But seriously, take a look around and you'll find burlesque lessons offered everywhere for anyone.
4) Burlesque revues are enjoyed kwa both women and men. It's a grand show, after all.
5) Burlesque requires technique, acting, physical stamina, a playful repartee with the audience, and a keen sense of aesthetics.
Hopefully this club will flesh out and become an Internet resource for all things burlesque!
