I thought it would be fun to put together a nice makala about why I upendo cozies so much. Maybe somebody outside the site will see this, au maybe just maybe somebody already on fanpop will randomly stumble upon it and become intrigued. Either way, if somebody listens au nobody listens I just have one thing to say - I. Love. Cozy. Mysteries. and I want everyone to know how great they are so here is a short orodha of some of the many reasons cozies are so great.

What IS a cozy mystery?
Cozy mysteries, also referred to as "cozies", are a subgenre of crime fiction in which sex and violence are downplayed au treated humorously, and the crime and detection take place in a small, socially intimate community.

I upendo cozies because...there is one for almost every single major American holiday including seasons.

Do wewe ever just get in the mood to read a krisimasi book around the holiday? Get in the spirit for Halloween? What about a summer read for when you're on the beach, pwani (or just dreaming wewe were)? Itching for a St. Patrick's siku murder? Cozies have that and more! I'm never left wanting for a certain time of the year.

I upendo cozies because...there is SO much variety!

Majority of cozy vitabu typically have one heroine whose voice is heard throughout the book, and they usually own their own duka in a small town (ordinarily their hometowns). But so much can and has been done with this in the genre, wewe have such a large variety to choose from! Along with present siku normal series, wewe also have your past and Supernatural as well. Always wanted to read about an Amish quilt shop? Look no further! Chocolatier✔, wedding planner✔, restaurateur✔, interior decorator✔, farmer✔, kitanda and breakfast owner✔. I could go on and on! wewe will never find two cozies exactly the same.

I upendo cozies because...CATS!!!

I'll just come right out and say it - Cats are a HUGE part of why I upendo cozies so much. I was born a crazy cat lady and I will die a crazy cat lady, so anything to do with felines I'm in! And Cats are a staple within the genre. wanyama are in general and I do admit I upendo them with mbwa as well but there seem to be zaidi Cats on covers than anything. (I mean aliyopewa the demographic, who is surprised?) But not only are Cats a big selling point just being on the cover, but there are series with Cats as the main voice, and ones that center solely on cats. These furry angels rule the genre!

I upendo cozies because...the titles are so punny!

Anyone who tells wewe they don't like puns are not to be trusted. This is a fact. The cozy genre has totally reinvented punny book titles they have made it into an art form. Truly. Many of them will have something to do with the theme of the series (Tressed to Kill being the title of a beauty duka series), while others will be zaidi just for fun and have nothing to do with the book whatsoever. For me, a great title will make me even zaidi inclined to pick the book up if I wasn't otherwise interested. The zaidi I groan at how punny it is, the zaidi likely it's going in my cart.

I upendo cozies because...the covers are absolutely stunning.

Yes, of course I had to have a shallow option because what's an makala I create without mentioning how beautiful something is? But truly, the covers of 90% of cozies are just outstanding. Many, like I stated before, involving pets and if the series is based around a duka owner it will occasionally onyesha the interior of the store to give wewe somewhat of an idea of what it's like. Also often inaonyesha outside scenery as well, and nearly always including food. A really great cover will honestly zaidi often than not determine whether I will read it. I might be inclined to otherwise, but the covers give a bigger picture into the world the authors are uandishi about and I want to be there. I want to be curled up in front of the fireplace on krisimasi siku with warmth surrounding me. I want to relax at nyumbani on my comfy kitanda with my fluffy cat surrounded kwa my mother's cross-stitch made from the heart. And I most definitely want to duka in a pet store made to look like a doghouse. THIS is the mkate and siagi of the genre. If an mwandishi has a great artist for their series, they're set! mashabiki want to be in the world shown on the cover. We want to pet furry animals, duka in quaint stores, and feel comforted in our cozy homes.

And lastly, but not least...

I upendo cozies because...they're just good.

I mean good. Really good. For me, cozies are not about NOT wanting to hear about gore au sex au anything overly violent. Because I'm a horror movie connoisseur and the zaidi over the juu gory they are, the better! Clearly I don't mind any of those things. Like I stated above, it's about wanting to be in that environment. There's something about escaping the real world for awhile to escape to a zaidi simple and warm time. A cozy time where wewe grew up in a small town where everyone knew everyone, and all the shops on main mitaani, mtaa were not chains but locally owned family stores, and all your Marafiki and family supported wewe and got wewe through the day. Yes, there's murder in cozies but the bigger picture is the simple life that is behind the scenes. At least for me. I live vicariously through all my inayopendelewa heroines in the books. They're strong, they're likeable, they're highly intelligent, and they have got enviable lives.

And THAT is why I upendo cozy mysteries.
