Ok, for my english class earlier this year, I had to write a 10 paragraph story about a person who meets a genie, makes a wish, and it goes horribly wrong. Hope wewe like it!
...
My name is Sadie Castro. I’m a 16-year-old girl at Upper Crest High School. I thought being the most maarufu girl in school was everything. Boys, people always wanting to hang out with you, BOYS!! God, was I ever wrong. Three weeks zamani was the worst time of my life…
I was always what people called your “Typical Nerd.” wewe know, glasses, braces, weird hair and clothes. On Friday nights, while everyone else was out partying, I always stayed at nyumbani and read au drew. I didn’t have any friends, and I would always screw up opportunities to impress the maarufu people. Some people say I would look prettier if I got rid of my glasses, straightened my hair, and shopped at stores everyone else shops at; I just couldn’t get myself to change that dramatically.
Well, anyways, it all started three weeks ago. I was in gym class, which I also suck at. It was dodge ball day, and of course, I was picked last. I was stuck on Heather Mertz’s team. Heather is the most popular, and the most stuck-up, girl in school. Once the game started, I was actually doing pretty well. Then, it happened-I got hit in the face. I cost our team the game. In the locker room, Heather and her ‘droids’ came up to me.
“You cost us the game, wewe stupid freak!“ she shouted.
“I-I’m sorry! I didn’t mean it!” I whimpered.
“Why are wewe even here?! No one likes you, Sadie. You’re such a loser!”
After they strutted away, their noses in the air, I started to cry. Thank God Gym was the last class of the day. As usual, I walked nyumbani alone. When I got home, I ran up to my room and locked the door. I opened my notebook and began drawing what I wanted to be. “Why can’t I look like this?” I asked myself when it was finished. It’d been such a long day, my eyes began to get heavy…
When I’d woken up, not realizing I had fallen asleep, I looked down.
“Why is the picture gone?” I asked.
“Because I’m right here.” a voice said.
“AAAAAAHHH!!!” I screamed.
Right in front of me was the picture I had drawn. Basically, it was my alter-ego. Straight, black hair, no glasses, NO BRACES, cool clothes.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa,” I said. “you’re supposed to be on the paper!”
“I guess I’m not.” she said. “Do wewe even know who I am?” she asked.
You’re a picture. au at least, I thought wewe were.” I alisema in confusion.
“No,” she said, “I’m you.”
“WHAT?!” I shouted
“Yep. Isn’t this what wewe wanted to look like? wewe know, no braces, perfect hair, cool clothes, and then some?” she-or-I-or WHATEVER said.
“Well…yeah, and I wanted people to upendo me, too.” I explained.
“Then it’s settled. You’ll be me, and the old Sadie will be no more.” she told me.
After that, I saw a flash of light. After that was over, I looked in the mirror. “Oh my God!” I alisema in disbelief. I was what I wanted to be. Pretty. An saa later, I was in school. When I walked in, people didn’t even notice me. “Who’s that?” “Oh my God!” “She’s so pretty!” they all whispered. I loved it.
Lunch. I sat at my usual table, but lunch wasn’t so usual. As soon as I sat down, all the maarufu girls, even Heather Mertz, immediately sat down inayofuata to me. “Hi! What’s your name?” they all asked. It’s like Nerdy Sadie never even existed.
“Sadie.” I replied.
“Sadie…I upendo that name!” Heather said.
“Where’d wewe get your clothes?” “Who does your hair?” “Where’d wewe get your clothes?” were some of the maswali they asked me. This is fantastic! People finally noticed me. My dream come true. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, Ryan Peterson came over to my table. Ryan was the cutest and most maarufu boy in school.
“Hey,” he said. “what’s your name?”
“Sadie…” I said, looking at the floor.
“That’s a pretty name. I’m Ryan. Well, I was wondering, if wewe weren’t busy tomorrow, maybe…you’d want to go out?” he asked.
“YES!!” I said, not even hesitating.
“Cool. Pick wewe up at seven?”
“Okay!” I was so excited. A maarufu boy asked me out. My life, at that moment, was perfect.
Saturday. The siku after my first date. When I awoke, I was the happiest girl in the world. Then, my happiness was interrupted with my phone ringing.
“Hello?”
“Hi, Sadie! It’s Heather!”
“Oh, um, hi!”
“So, I was wondering if wewe wanted to come to the mall with me this afternoon?”
“Um…ok.”
“Great! See wewe around 1?”
“Ok!”
Just as I hung up, I got another phone call.
“Is this Sadie?” a voice said.
“Um…yes. Who’s this?” I questioned.
“It’s Paige Jenkins, from school.”
“Oh, ok. Umm…hi!” How’d she get my number? I thought.
Paige had asked me if I had wanted to hang out today. I alisema I was already hanging out with Heather. Throughout the whole weekend, I swear I got about fifty calls of people wanting to hang out. Wow, I thought, popularity sure is tough. I didn’t know what I was in for.
Monday wasn’t any better. Whenever I was at my locker, there were people asking if they could carry my vitabu for me. I alisema I was fine. Lunch stank, too. When I sat down, as many people the meza, jedwali could fit sat down inayofuata to me. Offers were pouring in asking if they could buy me lunch. In class, whenever I got an answer right, a thousand “Good jobs!” came from the class. This all happened throughout the week. kwa Friday, I was worn out and creeped out.
That night, I got so many calls I disconnected my phone. Geez, I thought, am I in a horror movie? Things got worse as the night progressed. I think it was about, 10:30. I had just gone to kitanda when the doorbell rang. I trudged down the stairs and opened the door, a little nervous about what I would be greeted by. Once I put my hand on the knob, the door flung open. I was tackled kwa the whole neighborhood, au at least it seemed like it. “SADIE!!” they all shouted. I screamed, but no one heard me. Everyone was basically trying to get a piece of me. I did manage to squeeze out of the crowd and run up to my room, locking it from the inside. “This isn’t what I wanted! I just wanted to be noticed!!” I screamed. My door was being pulverized kwa people. I felt like I was back at the beginning. Door locked from the inside, hiding from the world around me, only this time it was for the opposite reason. My door then came crashing down, and people came bursting through the doorway. I screamed.
Before I knew it, I was back kwa my desk. I was breathing heavily. My moyo was pounding through my chest. I was confused. I got up and looked in the mirror. “What the heck?” I was Nerdy Sadie again. “But, I don’t understand!” One dakika I was being attacked kwa obsessive ‘fans’, the inayofuata I was in my room, back in nerd-form. Then it hit me. The ‘genie’, the beauty, the popularity, the craziness; it was all just a dream. And at that moment, I realized something; wewe don’t have to be who others want wewe to be, just be you. I know that sound stupid and all, but it’s true. I also learned that if wewe come in contact with someone who says they can change your life, all I have to say is this-be careful what wewe wish for.
