Worse than Dragonball Evolution. Cartoon to live-action movies included, it's even worse than The Last Airbender. At least The Last Airbender tried to make the story accurate to its source material (and failed miserably considering how much they tried to fit in a single movie), but Death Note 2017 was just insulting and it's obvious that the director has never watched or read Death Note before. The only character who was (almost) accurate to the original was Ryuk. However, one good character doesn't make the movie good.
Even if you don't compare it to the original, it's still a garbage movie since all characters except Ryuk were poorly written and/or just frustrating to watch (Especially Light and L), the Bonnie-and-Clyde trope doesn't work, the movie is filled with clichés, the movie completely missed the red herring of Death Note and the romance between Light and Mia ruins the entire movie. Death Note is a psychological-mystery thriller, not a romance-drama story.
What a waste of time, money and talent.
