Define religion.

On that basis, all of rational thought should also be thrown out the window. Much of rational thought is centered on the idea that we cannot possibly understand the world in all its facets. We are told early and often that not everything can be explained, and while we should be curious, we should respect the fact that much in this world will remain beyond our understanding well after the human race ceases to exist. Religion simply states that that lack of understanding can be characterized as a divine entity that is beyond our understanding. That doesn't mean that religion itself says "never try to learn anything new."

I am against religion for other reasons.

Although I am also "against religion" (by which I assume you mean western theism such as Christianity, Judaism, Islam, western polytheism ect.) but for reasons quite to the contrary. I see religion as a vain attempt to define the world and all its mysteries instead of recognizing that there are some questions cannot be answered in our lifetime (if ever) and then trying to discover and understand as much of it as we can. Atheism, as well as some more modern religions and also some very ancient religions such as Buddhism and other eastern philosophies, are more in line with teaching others to be "satisfied with not understanding the world" but also encouraging people to find the answers to those questions that can be answered.

A person can be religious and accept facts at the same time.

Everyone has their own way of interpreting the world around them. Who's to say a scientist's understanding of the universe is any better than a religious person's? Science or creationist or anything else, there is no correct way of how someone should comprehend different things. Interpret the world in any way that makes sense to you. For all we know, anyone's interpretation could be right.

Some people can interpret their religion as saying that it has all the answers. But that's characteristic of certain types of people, not religion as a whole.
