Not at all. I've gotten some "Happy Hanukkah!" or other types of holiday wishes many a time over the years. I think nobody should ill-wish a well-wisher :)

I don't think it's wrong, I just think it's nicer to say "Happy Holidays" vs. saying Merry Christmas, I think it shows more respect and openess for other religions.

I am very open to other religions and practices-- which is precisely WHY I don't think it's wrong at all. You're wishing them well, whether they celebrate the holiday or not.

I hate it when people are afraid to express good will because they think it will offend someone. In Egypt, I would say "Merry Christmas!" and they would respond with (if the moon was right) "Happy Eid/Ramadan!" And we both appreciated it.

It's not wrong. Christmas is the most widely celebrated holiday in America. I guess it would be better is people said Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas but it's really not such a big deal. Like for instance, i'm jewish, and when people say Merry Christams I just say thank you. The meaning is still the smae. If this is such a big deal you can argue that, why on holiday commercials they only talk about Christmas instead of Ramadaan or Hannukah. The answer is simple, Christams is the most widely celebrated holiday in America.

i think its nice when someone says Merry/Happy whatever to you, because they believe in that faith, and want their prayers to protect u...so its a nice thing...it shouldnt be scorned

i dont think its wrong. i think maybe it may not mean anything to the person on the religious side of things, but it will probably always mean something in the sense that person is thinking about them, or taking the time to even wish them a happy holiday.

and also, if you dont know if the person celbrates christmas or not, are we supposed to go around wishing people "happy holidays" rather than "Merry christmas"? In my opinion, i much prefer saying merry christmas :D

not really, people should know what the true meaning of Christmas is the first place. And if the true meaning is that Jesus was born to save us from sin and brong the world to happiness.....what of a terrible person would you be if you don't wish a person happiness.

Christmas is a holiday for getting together with your family. It's not longer all about the religious side of things for everyone. Why would it be wrong to wish someone "I hope you have a happy family gathering?"
