Disney Princess Why do wewe think the animators didn't keep Tiana's concept art hair?

I'm glad they did not keep it. I like her final hair better.

Those are the things I always assumed, Idk what do you guys think? Am I always so suspicious of everything? Yeah kinda but just putting a thought at least.

PatF would be accused of racism because that hair looks unrealistic. Which is stupid yes because the DPs pretty much all possess that, but of course Tia being black will always be an issue. How it says "natural black hair isn't beautiful" "does Tia wear a weave or does she grow it?" Her concept art hair looks so beautiful, I always wished to see it like that, wishing she would lose the bun but I understand the problem...

Everytime I compliment my black friends about their hair, they give me that look "Girl, are you for real?" which is sad.

Yet again, I read a confession about how racist Disney was not keeping that hair. Sucks you can never win.

Except that is NOT official Disney concept art. All of those drawings of Tiana with big hair was done as fanart by David Gilson, a French Disney fan who drew all of this around late 2008-2009. He was very excited about the movie but there wasn't any official art of Tiana yet so he "made her up" in a way. (i think he later went on to work in Disney (he did Papeman i think), but i'm not so sure)

So, please, tumblrinas, don't complain about something that was never there in the first place.

^My bad, they are everywhere lol. I can't be too sure though and personally, I always prefered that look for her so I just like to believe that is one of her looks.

^Could be, but we can't accuse Disney of racism in this case since they didn't draw those drawings in the first place.

Scarletunicorn beat me to it. This is one of my biggest pet peeves ever. I've already explained this before in this club at least twice, and people keep saying "Tiana looked so much better in her concept art!". No offense, dimitri. This isn't aimed at you or anyone in particular, and I'm aware I might be coming across a little rude here, but this is one thing that, oddly enough, aggravates me.

I love that art, but the hair she ended up with makes sense because she's a cook. Most people in the food industry wear their hair back.

It just would have been nice to see her with curly or kinky hair whether it was in a ponytail or not.

Her hair would have looked great, I'm sure, but it wouldn't have been practical at all. She works around food all day - it would have been pretty unsanitary to have her hair loose, and it probably would have gotten in her face all day. I like that they kept the design realistic to her job, and actually it fits in well with her character too -- no-nonense, restrained, and whatever.
