To me, it's probably the only feel good princess movie out of the entire Revival era. (Moana is Tangled's paler cousin in some respects). I enjoyed parts of Tangled, because it reminded me of watching Genie and Ariel a tiny bit. Like Aladdin and The Little Mermaid, Tangled doesn't always take itself too seriously, so that's a welcome departure from the theme of preachy princess movies ( a staple of the Revival). Tangled doesn't preach to its audience. It has a plot, humor (that is sometimes forced/ unforced), and pretty well-developed characters. Tangled is light entertainment, and re-watching leaves one with an upbeat feeling.

This movie is solid. It's magical and fun and has an interesting story. I appreciate that it has a strong female lead who is simultaneously allowed to be feminine. My biggest issue with it is that I'm not a fan of the soundtrack. I don't feel like it does much for the movie.

So far Tangled is the only well-done modern DP movie. It brings the different representation of Rapunzel. Here, Rapunzel is cheerful, creative, super-talented, and quick-thinking, way better than the original Rapunzel that just waiting in the tower. I also love how Rapunzel is showed to be strong female lead but she's also quite girly, made her characteristic is balanced in both sides.
The animation is beautiful especially the lanterns. Pretty solid characters. Unless I don't really like the soundtrack (except I See The Light) and the humors somehow feels forced. But at least it's enjoyable enough to watch and it stays as 5th favorite DP movie.

I love this movie.
I love the changes they made to classic fairytale. Rapunzel is #3 DP. I love both her looks and personality. It's so wonderful that Rapunzel ruins this annoying "Green eyes are for villainesses or sexualized heroines, not for ingenues" stereotypes. She is extremely kind, nice, sweet, multitalanted and interesting person. I find Eugene the most handsome Disney male. I really dislike that Eugene and Rapunzel continue this " jerkish boy who changes to better/innocent and perfect heroine" tradition but their interaction is still romantic and sweet. I love Kingdom Dance soundtrack and the Eugene's self-sacrifice.
