disney_prince picked Aurora:
There are many Shakespearean heroines with a lot of variety. I think Aurora is very similar to some in the way that she doesn't come accross so much as a character but rather a prop for the story.

It could also be Pocahontas, he story is the closest to be a "tragedy", plus he story is the most similar to Romeo & Juliet.

Maybe even Mulan because of all the sacrifice and stuff.

Hmmm...

ppv picked Pocahontas:
well the first that occurs me when I hear a Shakespearean heroine is Juliette, and some suffering in the name of Love, so I pick Pocahontas, but of course it's only because I have such associations...

I'd say either Aurora, Belle or Cinderella.

I only know the story of Romeo & Juliet. Like others have said, Ariel reminds me of Juliet. And that whole thing between the British settlers and Pocahontas's tribe hating each other reminds me of the Capulets and the Montagues.

But I bet the majority of the girls in Shakespeare's stories are like Aurora.

VGfan30 picked Mulan:
I base my choice loosely off Twelfth Night where Viola dresses like a man after getting shipwrecked and thinking her twin brother is dead. The movie She The Man, with Amanda Bynes, is based off of the play.

Pretending to be a boy = very Shakespearean. I was thinking of Merchant of Venice, but of course Twelfth Night is a good example.

^^ my thoughts - plus defying male expectations of her sex - very Shakespearian.
