Neither, Mulan was ready to die for her father and Shang was ready to die for his country and continued leading his troops after when he get to konw his father died

^Um yes in a way it is. Her father wanted to do the honorable thing and go himself and she didnt want to lose him cuz SHE loved him. so it isnt a really bad selfishness but it still is one. also, for her own choice she endangered her whole family.

then by doing stuff her way as shang pointed out, she coulda had them killed.
