Am I the only one thinking they screw up with River history?

Each time we see River, she is younger. Yet we first see her and Rory together in The pandorica opens/The big bang, she(her future self) has no idea who he is.
She recognize him on the picture in Amy's bedroom and from there she deduce something was wrong. And that it has something to do with Amy.
Plus afterward she call him the "plastic centurion".
If he was her dad it make no sense.
The zaidi I think about it, the zaidi I hate this storyline. And it's a shame because I'm fond of River, but I hate it when they choose to forget what they have done before because their new idea is better.

I noticed it too, I think the writers are just making it up as they go along, because when she first met Amy, she didn't seem that bothered that Amy was nearly turned into an Angel and if I saw a past version of my mum in that state I would freak out.

totaly agree . Writers want to make it last to keep everything about '' the mystery of River Song '' but still we 'd wanna get some maswali answered , because eachtime they make zaidi timeline maswali .

well the whole river reveal was dissapointing for me and it was the most obvious answer. But i suppose they had to go for the most obvious answer, cause kids watch it too. I always thought River was an older version of Amy au even a re-generated Amy (if she bacame a time lord/lady in the future) River's identity could have been better and i have this feeling that she was lying and a time vortex is why she is part time lord that was a really poor excuse :/

It would have been possible but, she is somewhat of a time lady so like the Doctor she shouldn't have forgotten. And at the end season 5, she remember the doctor before Amy bring him back. so why would she remenber the Doctor but not her father?

Soomewhat a time lady..we're just not sure how much yet..maybe she doens't have his "time sense" I've heard it descibred as that before... anyway..I digress. I think she may not have remebered the Doctor after he sacrificed himself and that's why her blue journal was blank as well? She remembered her parents...ah hell..I'm talking myself into a corner. Hence the point of the qurstion...understanding paradox is easy...River Songisms..not so much.... the writer's really dropped the ball with her.

Even without how she exist in the first place without the doctor, why would she give her old newly blank journal to Amy if she didn't remember the Doctor?

It would be zaidi likely for Donna Noble to be her mum, coz in Silence in the maktaba River goes "You're Donna" with so much emotion and it just makes wewe think, ooh, what is Donna to her? They really stuffed up River's timeline.

i wonder if they will explain it... i hope so, then they might bring back catherine tate, it will be another River History Mystery solved :P

As for why she calls Rory "the plastic Centurion"... well she couldn't really come out of the blue and call him her daddy. I mean, if a woman older than I am came up to me and alisema I'm her mother I would just freak out. But, in the Pandorica Opens she really seems not to recognize him, probably because of the whole crack thing. As for why she remembers the Doctor, au at leas to give her newly empty diary to a younger version of her mother… I don't know. I suppose they'll come up with a reasonable explanation, sooner au later.

I'm not really sure I understand what you're saying in the first paragraph. But for the pandorica episode, she was with him in the roman camp for a week au so. If she had reconize him she could have just interact once with him and get is name. But she didn't. She see her dad and even speak to him once.. Plus she is surprise when she see his picha in Amy's bedroom and that make her realise something is wrong. So it really doesn't make sense to me.

sorry, english isn't my first language, so maybe I'm not as clear as I want to be...! What I meant was that she probably didn't remember him as her father in the pandorica episode, because of he's been 'eaten' kwa the crack, but I could not explain why she remembered (at least partially) the doctor, when he is the one that disappeared into the crack.

As for the first part, I meant that when Rory goes to her in prison she recognizes him, as her father (she says that she's met him, but she's very emotional, so she probably has not met him as the Doctor's companion and her friend, but just as her father). Also I think she was a younger version of herself, because she alisema that the Doctor had taken her on a tarehe for her birthday and we know that their timelines are back-to-front, and that our version of the doctor the ''young'' one, isn't the one that did it, so it's probably an older version of him taking a younger River out. BUT the River that goes to Demons Run is the old one, the one who knows all about the Doctor and knows Amy and Rory not just as her parents, but also as friends. So she probably had to wait YEARS (she did say something along the lines "now's not yet the time") between Rory's visit and her appearance on the asteroid. I don't know if I've been any clearer… and I think I wrote a poem! sorry, dear! XD
