I raced off to the skydeck. He was alone. Heather must have gone to bed.
"Duncan?" I asked tentatively. "Can I talk to you?"
"Are wewe sure wewe don't want to talk to Alejandro?"
"No, I want to talk to you."
"Oh, why did Alejandro dump you?"
"No that poser doesn't dump a single one of his girlfriends." His eyes lightened a bit after this.
"And I wasn't dating him." I added. Duncan frowned.

He opened his mouth to say something but thought better of it and closed it.
