These Edwardian gardens become the French palace gardens of King Louis XV in “The Girl in the Fireplace”. Interiors of the manor house were used for Churchill’s office in “The Wedding of River Song” and CAL’s database “Forest of the Dead”.

Roald Dahl Plass is the site of a spatial-temporal rift in Cardiff, appears several times throughout the series. It’s also the locations of Torchwood Three headquarters in the spin-off series.

In “The Unicorn and the Wasp”, the Doctor drops an unconscious Agatha Christie off at the Harrogate Hotel, though in reality the building is Hensol Castle. The castle’s interiors were used for 10 Downing Street in “World War Three” and “The Sound of Drums”, and “Aliens in London”.

The ever creepy Clearwell Caves made two appearances throughout David Tennant’s tenure as the Doctor. In “The Christmas Invasion”, the caves made up the interior of the Sycorax spaceship, and the became the depths of “The Satan Pit,” several episodes later.

5. Fforest Fawr Country Park, Powys, Wales

The Three Bears Caves and surrounding woodland of Fforest Fawr have appeared on screen as a burial ground outside the monastery in “The Bells of St John,” and as the base camp of Robin Hood and his Merry Men in “Robot of Sherwood”.

After Rose and the Doctor’s first meeting, the first episode of the revived series, the TARDIS lands at the London Eye, where the Doctor explains some of the strange events Rose has witnessed recently.

The courtyards of Castel Coch appears as the Calvierri residence in “The Vampires of Venice,” while “Journey’s End” features the castle interiors and wooded grounds as the UNIT base in Germany.

The ballroom featured in “The Girl in the Fireplace” is actually the interior of Ragley Hall, where weddings and grand events still take place.

The Globe goes from stage to screen in “The Shakespeare Code,” where Martha and the Doctor catch a performance of

Love’s Labours Lost in Elizabethan London, and later on learn some interesting history about the original theatre.

The gorgeous Somerset cathedral is the double for London’s Southwark Cathedral in “The Lazarus Experiment,” where Professor Lazarus falls to his death.

The Morlais cliffs in Wales recreated the base of Mount Vesuvius in “The Fires of Pompeii”.

12. Margam Country Park, Port Talbot, Wales

The the manor house on the grounds of Margam Country Park appeared on screen as the exterior of the Rattigan Academy in “The Poison Sky”.

Llansannor Court is known as Eddison Manor in the Whoniverse, where the Doctor and Donna meet Agatha Christie at a dinner party in 1926 in “The Unicorn and the Wasp”.

The coastal area of Southern Down Beach appears many times throughout the series, as an alien landscape in “Army of Ghosts,” the site of Rose and the Doctor’s goodbye in “Doomsday,” and as Alfava Metraxis in “The Time of Angels”.

The National Museum of Wales was a popular location shoot throughout the series, appearing as Henry Van Statten’s exhibition hall in “Dalek,” the International Gallery in “Planet of the Dead,” and the exterior of Professor Lazarus’s office in “The Lazarus Experiment”.

Stradey Castle provides the setting for the Christmas special “The Doctor, The Widow, and The Wardrobe,” appearing on screen as the country home where Madge and her children are staying for the holidays.

17. Cosmeston Medieval Village, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales

In “Robot of Sherwood”, the village between Sherwood Forest and Nottingham Castle was brought to life in this charming, preserved medieval village in the Vale of Glamorgan.

The Doctor, Amy, and River travel to Stonhenge in “The Pandorica Opens” hoping to find the legendary prison below.

Neath Abbey was constantly revisited by the Doctor, taking many different forms throughout the series. In “The Beast Below” the abbey becomes catacombs beneath the Tower of London. Neath is the island monastery in “The Rebel Flesh” and “The Almost People,” the UNIT laboratory in “The Power of Three,” and the crypt housing a monster in “Vincent and the Doctor”.
