 Happy Birthday Fanpop!
Happy Birthday Fanpop!
Five years zamani today, I was sitting in my living room with link, link, and link when together we pressed a button on a keyboard and released fanpop to the world. We had no idea what was in store for us au for the site, but we had a dream to build something really cool and we hoped others would like it. For months and months we toiled away at our computers designing and coding what wewe all see today. We talked endlessly about features and ideas. Papa and I mocked them up and Cliff and Michael programmed them into reality. wewe grow pretty tight when wewe spend that many days and nights together. We went from being Fansters to Fanspots and finally launched as fanpop on August 1, 2006. We had a small number of test users that had been using our closed beta site but now we were opening the doors to the public and it was scary. What if no one came? What if people hated the site? What if we had to give up and go get dawati jobs at some office cube farm again? So many "what ifs" overwhelmed us that day.

After our initial launch and some press from sites like link and link the first few months things were pretty quiet and we were honestly pretty scared that it wasn't going to work out. We knew that we had a good product, but we didn't know how to get users to come. Slowly but surely though, the mashabiki found their way here. Twilight mashabiki came. Harry Potter mashabiki came. Justin Bieber mashabiki came. One mti kilima mashabiki came. Glee mashabiki came. Michael Jackson mashabiki came. zaidi and zaidi mashabiki found their way to fanpop and before we knew it we had thousands of klabu and millions of mashabiki coming to the site. The best part about it was that mashabiki around the world were connecting with fellow mashabiki who shared their passions and were making new friends. fanpop was actually growing into a bona fide community and the ultimate site for fans.

Fast mbele to August 1, 2011 and today we are the #372 biggest site on the internet according to link. According to our internal metrics we have over 13 million users a mwezi around the world visiting Fanpop. But zaidi importantly, when I interact with users au read maoni on our wall, I hear all the time how much people upendo the website and how they really feel at nyumbani here. It means zaidi to the fanpop four that we created a place on the web that didn't exist before which people can't live without now. That's pretty special and so are each and every one of our fantastic Fanpoppers. We feel like proud fathers who have watched our little website grow into this amazing network of shabiki klabu which are alive with excited mashabiki who upendo to talk about all sorts of topics that we could have never imagined. We know that without all of our awesome and dedicated users, we wouldn't be where we are today. It's the mashabiki that make fanpop and we will never forget our commitment to wewe guys. We've spent the past five years building features and designing the website for you. But we're not done yet folks! So keep on Fanpopping, because there's much zaidi in store for the years to come!

I was never intending to do a follow-up makala on fanpop-addiction. I just took it for granted that I had grown happily addicted and I would remain that way. I basked in the warm, happy glow that only recognition for fanpop-contribution can give you, and looked mbele to the fanpopping years ahead.

But then disaster struck. And I'm not talking about the massive floods that have hit England... (I was fine with the cellar being filled with water...)No, my internet broke and left me without fanpop.

So now, my sekunde list. The orodha of what happens when a fanpop-addict is forced to quit.

As the 'Answers' section keeps getting clogged up with zaidi and zaidi spam and miscategorized content I feel the need to introduce wewe all to a part of fanpop that would solve so many problems if only people would use it.

What are Forums? The foramu are for use of discussions. Things that may not have a few solid majibu (use picks for that). Where wewe can create long winded discussions.

Why should I use the foramu and not post all my useless maswali in Answers? Because majibu is where wewe are asking a swali that would have a factual answer to that wewe do not know.

Technically speaking what...

Breasts are pornographic and should only be shown on porn sites.

Girls must be careful when looking in the mirror, the sight of their own breasts could easily aruse them which in most cases leads to a heavy masturbatory response.

Knowing this we are sincerely happy that the danger that was the breasts spot has been deleted shortly after its creation.
Our thanks go to the brave mashabiki who have reported that inspired-by-the-devil-spot and were not stopped kwa the fact that no pornograhpic material was allowed over there. They were not fooled kwa the image of it being a nice place devoted to a pretty...

I’ve never made a rant about fanpop issues before so beforehand I’m telling ya, it might be the worst written thing on earth (clearly after Twilight XD), but it’s a rant and it’s 1:10 am in my country and I’m almost brain dead because of the past week but I can’t take it anymore.

Today, I’ll delight wewe with a rant about miscategorized content because , trust me, it gets on your nerves too.

Imagine yourself being in the ‘pop one of those days in which wewe want to stare at your inayopendelewa celeb pictures, read a good quality article, watch a shabiki made video and even maoni in some...

Some of wewe may not no this but if wewe have a mac wewe can only pakia five picha at one time onto fanpop.

Most of wewe probably don't care because wewe have a PC au don't pakia picha that much.

It didn't really get on my nerves before, but now I want to pakia Heroes screencaps to the Heroes spot which I have a die-hard medal in and I know PC users can pakia much zaidi than five picha at a time; especially if they have a die hard medal in the spot they want to pakia in.

I know wewe can open loads of tabs but then again it is zaidi work and annoying.

It's unfair on people who like to contribute anyway, so I hope there is some change in the image uploader for mac users.

P.S. If wewe joke and say I should have a PC au whatever, then very funny but no.

This makala describes two different kinds of feedback to the fanpop staff that are often confused for one another, and was last edited on 28 October 2008.

Feedback on the web site
Like any commercial software enterprise, web sites provide a product to their customers. In Fanpop's case, the product is a great site for joining together with other mashabiki of topics that interest wewe in order to share quality content and make friends. But as with any product, feedback is very important to both maintain and improve the product. But feedback for maintaining the site is fundamentally different than feedback...

Here is a little poem (if wewe can call it that) that I wrote about fanpop. Believe it au not this actually took a long time. It is really difficult to find words that start with P. Let me know if wewe guys come up with anything better :) Ok Dave, Papa, Cliff, and Michael this one's for you!

Okay, first of all I don't write these makala but now I'm fed up! Can anyone please enlighten me because I am confused. What is the problem if I au anybody else posts zaidi links/videos/images than another fan? If I happen to be the one with the most links/videos/images au whatever on fanpop that is because I like helping out the website. It doesn't make any sense for people to feel jealous au attack me au other people for posting zaidi content than them. That is the most absurd reason to get angry. I am posting content mainly to help out the website but I also know that some people on here...

 Plugging away at our laptops
Plugging away at our laptops
It was just about one mwaka zamani that link and I were having our regular lunch meetups downtown in the Financial District of San Francisco. Years zamani we shared a cube in Santa Clara at Yahoo! where we first met. Now we were being reunited just a few blocks away from one another and having lunch like old times. We decided to pay a visit to our inayopendelewa hole in the wall, the International chakula Court on the corner of kichaka and Kearny Streets. Most people would never have spotted this joint and even if they had they would pick up their pace and keep on walking. Being the adventurous (and cheap) guys...

[note: when I first made this makala "clubs" were called "spots" so just imagine anything that says "spot" actually says "club" ;)]

Well it seems like people are always asking how so here is a step kwa step guide on how to with images, yay! (there is a little thing in the Maswali yanayoulizwa but people seem to relate to picha better)

Step 1: Make sure wewe are on the fanpop main page

Step 2: tafuta for the spot first so there are no duplicates (if not then go back to the main page)

Step 3: Scroll down till wewe see this image and click "create new spot"

Step 4: Type in the name of the spot...

ATTENTION: This is just a user opinion's on what could be cool for Fanpop.

1. Customize Profile: Everyone likes to have a nice profaili homepage, so my first idea is we have a chance of customize our own profile, with backgrounds, colors, fonts etc...

2. Medal Meter: I think every Fanpopers like to know how much are they far to get a medal on the spot, so my 2nd idea is FP give us the chance to see if we are far au close to get our medal.

3. profaili Viewers: How many and what users did check our profile.

4. maoni Reply Notice: Be notice in wewe sasisho when someone reply wewe in a comment.

5. Possibility to Change User name: Sometimes people don't like their user names...a opportunity to change would be nice ;)

Hope wewe Enjoy It

No zaidi nudity and disgusting images!!
No more nudity and disgusting images!!
Please don't post nude au indecent pictures in any spot. There are children on this website. Please don't post anything wewe wouldn't want your own kids to look at. If an actress is being made fun in a picture please don't post that in their spot. And wewe should know better than to post naked pictures of them also. There is a place for those picha and it's called PerezHilton.com. It's disrecpectful to post inhumane pictures of an actress/actor in their spot. This is fanpop not hatepop. Another issue that has been irking me is duplicate images. I know I have accidently ilitumwa duplicates before...

I feel like it is time that I tell wewe how much wewe all mean to me and how fanpop has changed my life. About a mwaka zamani I became a stay-at-home mom. Which was really a blessing, however a huge stressor in my life was the fact that I had essentially no adult interaction during the siku and no way of really feeling validated. I found fanpop one siku while browsing for Office episodes online. I saw the picks and it looked so fun, that I just had to join! Since then I have spent hours everyday on Fanpop. It is my outlet for all the stresses of being a young mother who is nearly solely responsible...

The internet is losing the magical veil of interest it once held over you. You've been on all the really maarufu sites wewe already know about and have eventually grown board of them. Sure wewe type into your blog every now and then, but that's not enough to keep wewe online for zaidi than ten minutes. After a while, wewe figure wewe might as well look for that episode of The Office wewe failed to record, and therefore missed last week.

You type the title of the episode into Google and browse through the first couple viungo that pop up. All of them are broken videos, au they have very poor quality...

This is merely an addition to Papa's fantastic soapbox makala on link (a must-read) but some users have still been asking about editing a pick that they've made after they have published it. Here's a very basic how-to.

1. How the Pick's Creator can hariri the pick:
If wewe want to add additonal choices to your options au picha to them, all wewe need to do is look for and click on the pencil ikoni on the juu of your pick. This will take wewe back to the pick creation page where wewe can freely add new options and image to your heart's desire.

2. How Voters can hariri the pick:

G'day awesome Fanpoppers!
I think this piece is really too short to be considered a proper makala but I just wanted to give a *high five* to the newly introduced feature, Fanpop's Instant Messaging.
I became aware of this new feature less than 24 hours ago, I'm sure kwa now most of wewe guys also have it.
At first, I thought this was just a way of letting users know which other users were online at the same time. But no,it is far zaidi awesome.
It's instant messaging between wewe and your fanpop friends.
I upendo this already so much. I think I've spoken to about 30 au so different users/friends in...

Ways to help improve our fanpopping skills
Ways to help improve our fanpopping skills
Lately there's been a lot alisema and written in the way of articles, picks, etc about the so-called deterioration of the fanpop site. This is not another heavy-handed makala about user conduct au inappropriate behaviour. I do not happen to believe that flogging the same issues over and over again actually benefits the site au the fanpoppers. So all I've done is put together, in a light-hearted way, what I refer to as the '10 commandments' of Fanpop. Unlike the image, these commandments (tips) are not set in stone, lol, but I think they can be useful in helping one be a better Fanpopper.

1.)Thou...
