 Dictionaries are a handy tool.
Dictionaries are a handy tool.
One thing that's becoming zaidi and zaidi prominent as time goes on, is that people online don't feel the need to use good grammar and spelling. Now, despite the fact that when on IM au whatevs, it's really fine to use all of these little abbreviations like "jk" "lol" "atm" etc. etc. etc. Before I get any farther into this uncontrolled rant, let me just say that I do use some internet slang. Most of this, however, are words that I make up. So, whatevs, deelie, yuppers, wazhappenin, etc. etc. etc. I'm not one to use mainstream slang other than "lol" because there is NO replacement for LOL. No, like really.

So anyways, the thing I'm going to lecture wewe kiddies about today is, using proper grammar and spelling and punctuation in your writing. This is quite important, if wewe want respect for jobs in the future, for typing a formal uandishi piece, and also just gaining respect from wewe fellow internet-goers. Before I used good typing, people on sites looked down on me for my typing and writing. No joke, they refused to read my stuff. Since then, I have learned to use good punctuation, spelling, grammar etc.

So wewe may be wondering: Why do I care about any of this?? Well, here's why: I'M NOT GOING TO RESPECT wewe UNLESS wewe USE GOOD GRAMMAR. And other people won't either. So, now that I've made my point, I'm going to give wewe tips in your internet writing:

1. Always use spell check, when possible. My internet has a spell check built in (I use firefox, I dunno if everyone has it who uses firefox but it's very handy) so that tends not to be a problem for me. But if you're going to go write something longer than a sentence au two on a site, it doesn't hurt to open up Word and run spell check. wewe WILL benefit from it. And appear to be quite intelligent.

2. CUTTING DOWN ON INTERNET SLANG: Now, I'm about to teach wewe this vital trick. USE FULL WORDS. When it comes time to type that LA essay, wewe will be a better typist AND it'll save a lot of editing for you. As alisema before, some internet slang (like lol) doesn't really have a substitute. Well, instead of replying with lol sometimes, try saying "that made me laugh" au "that's funny". But really, honestly, lol should ONLY be used in internet conversation. If you're using it in an essay, then we don't care if what wewe alisema is funny. If we think it's funny, we'll laugh and "lol" you.

Now, others are quite obvious. What and wut. n2m to nothing much. It make take sekunde zaidi to type, but it's easier to understand and just all around better. For example, one of my Marafiki types with no capitalization au punctuation. His sentences are impossible to understand, because I hafta find the breaks kwa myself, which isn't always so easy. Here's an example of something he once alisema "ya these seats are nice look at this a cup holder it goes up and down kool" Which would be read as one long sentence but was intended as "ya these seats are nice. look at this a cup holder. it goes up and down . kool." kwa me simply placing in periods, I made all the difference. Now, watch what happens when I add good spelling "Yeah, these seats are nice. Look at this cup holder. It goes up and down. Cool." Look just how far we've come from "ya these seats are nice look at this a cup holder it goes up and down kool" It makes all the difference.
Leave your slang at AIM please.
Leave your slang at AIM please.

I have been noticing this as a problem on fanpop recently. In fact, I just did a pick where there were no real words and/or spelling, all net slang. I couldn't understand a single thing written in the pick, and therefore, couldn't make my pick. Come on guys, using good spelling and grammar isn't that hard. It's something wewe need to learn in order to get respect from others. Please, take this into consideration and actually use it zaidi than normal. The world will thank you.

I can't help but notice lately that a lot of people have been creating Verified fanpop Accounts. At first, I thought it was some kind of program fanpop put in order. Then I realized that it's just another way that people are faking 'celebrity accounts.'

But, real au not, it's actually a really cool thing to do to your profile! And it's really easy, so anybody can do it!

Directions:
- Open your profaili for editing. In the section where wewe would usually put your last name, copy au type in: ✔ Verified fanpop Account

Congradulations, your officially your actual self^^

OK, everybody, let's all just take some deep breaths. I've been looking at maoni within the last half saa about the new fanpop layout that has thrown all of us for a loop.

There was a similar outcry of disbelief over, what I am choosing to call, the link. I am here uandishi this to gather everyone's collective panic and misgivings into one place, as well as to try and look at the positives of these hivi karibuni changes, in an attempt to placate some of your fears.

First of all, let's get the obvious out of the way. AH! OMIGAWD! fanpop LOOKS WEIRD AND IS ALL DIFFERENT! It's like Facebook and YouTube...

Ah props. They used to be a way to acknowledge on a peer to peer level that someone has ilitumwa something good. Back in my siku we used to give heshima if someone ilitumwa a good video, au alisema something intelligent but now they're thrown out like...condoms in high schools? *shrugs*

What are props?
Props are small medali that wewe can give to other users if wewe see them post something good.
eg; User_X posts a good video, User_Y gives User_X a video prop!

How can I give someone a prop?
You can give users heshima kwa going to their profaili and clicking on the "Give Props" button, then type them a short message...

Hi everyone,

I’m uandishi this makala because I believe the new ukuta system has real potential of improving the way people use the props. I realize that not all fanpoppers will follow my advize, but I still feel the urge to write this.

I’ve been on fanpop for quite some time now, and I’ve received and aliyopewa quite a few props. However, only a small amound of the heshima I received were ‘real props’. To clarify: kwa ‘real props’ I mean heshima received for actual content I’ve submitted. All the other heshima were ‘thanks for being a shabiki – props’ au ‘happy whatever siku wewe came...

My Joy was short lived

Days went by,days turned into weeks and after a mwezi and a half i found nothing. For the times i had been on fanpop i had read the funniest, silliest things in spots and now that i could finally share them ,everyone became sensible?

This is a little game I made up just because I was bored. I enjoy it, so I figured I’d share it.
Just a warning: This game is only fun if there’s a spot you’ve added a lot of picha to, but enough have been added kwa other people to make it challenging.

So, the object of the game is to... get lots of points? And to encourage proper image etiquette.

Be sure to keep something handy to keep track of your points! (Paper and pencil, blank word document, calculator, etc.)

Step 1: Maneuver over to your inayopendelewa spot (or preferably, the spot you’ve contributed the most picha to)

Step 2: Look at...

The Fanwhore: Have wewe ever been added kwa someone, and then when wewe went to their profaili to possibly add them back, saw only posts with things like "Thanks for the add!" as far as the eye could see? Congrats, you've just met a Fanwhore. This person is pretty much just obsessed with getting fans. They can spend hours adding people, and will usually add back anyone who adds them. They tend to have obscenely large numbers of fans, and to get them obscenely fast. Can go ballistic if they haven't gained at least five new mashabiki in the last hour.
Also, some Fanwhores tend to reform after a while,...
