Lets all get drunk on flanpop!
Lets all get drunk on flanpop!
Yes, people of fanpop, today (April 4th, 2008) is the 1 mwaka anniversary of me joining fanpop. To celebrate this I have made a timeline about my first mwaka on fanpop, which will onyesha how it changed my life.

(Some of these are dated, some are not, and this is because some of the dates I don't remember.)

January 26th 2007: While looking for great Office stuff on Google, I discover a little site called fanpop.

April 3rd, 2007: I wanted to sign up for fanpop, but my parents wouldn't allow me to because they didn't like me giving out my e-mail address, so I decided that I was going to use a hotmail account that I never use to sign up with.

April 4th, 2007: My fanpop account was born. I spent a siku thinking about what account name I should use. I came up with tvman because it showed how much I upendo tv, and it also showed how much I know about television.

April 2007: I get my first fan. bwright

April 2007: I post my first video. The Bu in the Scrubs spot featuring Sarah Chalke.

April 2007: I make my first maoni on the Lost episode One of Us sneak peak (the link is no longer around).

April 2007: I start my first spot. The British Columbia Lions spot (BC Lions spot).

April 2007: I ilitumwa my first link in the BC Lions spot.

April 21st, 2007: I post my most popular, and highest amount of people rating for one of my video to date, a video in which Jim is impersonating Dwight in the episode Product Recall of the onyesha The Office. Along with this I also coined the phrase Dwight Halpert in the process (no one else had used that until I did).

April 24th, 2007: I get my first medal in the Office spot. Most likely for the aforementioned video.

May 2007: Picks are introduced to fanpop, changing the site as we know it, for the good.

September 2007: I post my 100th video!

October 2007: I post my 100th pick

November 22nd, 2007: I finally get my first Die-Hard shabiki metal in the Office spot.

November 26th, 2007: The siku that I like to call The siku the Red Flags Flew happened. On this day, I had a total of 56 flagged video in one day. In just that day, almost half of the video content I had imewasilishwa on this site in the last few months I had been forced to erase.

December 2007: I post my 100th video Go Ted!

April 4th 2008: I celebrate my first full mwaka on fanpop.

Well that's pretty much it. Not a lot of action, but I plan to have zaidi of a contributing role on the site. Here are my future plans.

I hope to get a laptop, so I no longer have to share a computer with people. This laptop will also have programs that will make it able to make my own videos, and other content.

I hope to get at least one of those allusive fanatic medals.

Well, that it. If anybody wants to throw me a party, I want shabiki pop, and flanpop, and as for gifts I want medals, fanpop attire, and lots of fanpop people. Ha! Just kidding *nervous/sad laughing*.
 Happy fanpop birthday to me!

 Yes, yes it is.
Yes, yes it is.
As some of wewe may know, I often suffer from grammar-induced rage blackouts. These can be triggered kwa anything from a misplaced apostrophe to the incorrect usage of "your" and "you're". So, I decided to do something about it.. mostly because I'm afraid the inayofuata dangling modifier I come across might send me spiraling into a violent rampage the likes of which have never been seen.

I understand that a lot of Fanpoppers are not native English speakers, and thus might not have as good a hold on our sometimes ridiculously complicated grammatical rules. Obviously, I can't fault them for their mistakes....

Right, I have been thinking about this. I have been thinking about certain things on fanpop recently and as much as I upendo this place there are certain things that irk me.

Hate Spots
I've seen spots that are about hating a certain thing. I thought this place was zaidi about sharing things we enjoy so we can give each other images, links, videos, etc not "oh I hate this and this and this". It doesn't make anything friendly.

Me Me Me Spots
I mean no offence to anyone that has these kinds of spots and has created them but fanpop isn't MySpace au any of those other social networks. It's a different...

Okay everybody on fanpop is a shabiki of something, wewe have to be, But what is a true fan? Well, I'll tell you.
According to Webster's Dictionary, a shabiki is
A:
Function:    noun
Etymology:    probably short for fanatic
1 : an enthusiastic devotee (as of a sport au a performing art) usually as a spectator
2 : an ardent admirer au enthusiast (as of a celebrity au a pursuit) <science-fiction fans>

This is a great definition of a shabiki of a baseball team au a specific person, such as the Yankees au Brad Pitt. But is that really what the mashabiki on fanpop are? No....

I'm not afraid of you, Ghost!
I'm not afraid of you, Ghost!
So I was hanging out on my computer this evening, watching some video and browsing on Fanpop, when I noticed something that disturbed me. In not one, but two different spots. I discovered several examples of what I believe to be "Ghost Accounts".

"Ghost Accounts" are what I'm calling additional accounts created kwa an already existing fanpop member to skew the results of a pick au an argument in their favor. I have read things ilitumwa kwa other Fanpoppers suggesting their existence in the past, but hadn't knowingly spotted any for myself. Tonight I believe I spotted three different people doing...

 dont' leave

Have wewe noticed that people on this site add lots and lots of things and gain load's of mashabiki then out of nowhere are never adding again au only add now and then. Look through your shabiki orodha and see who is still adding and praise them for there loyalty and praise even zaidi au even heshima them for their work, they all deserve it.

kwa the way this is my first soapbox
 what it says above

Ok, I usually don't make user guides but this one needs to be made. I have seen a lot of picks and a lot of them are boring au annoying. Here is a orodha of steps to help wewe out.

1. Try to have zaidi than three majibu if possible. If the swali is "Who should Jim be with?" Put, Karen and Pam, and then put an answer like neither au Katy.

2.Always have pictures for the swali if it isn't a yes, no, au maybe question. Pictures bring in zaidi mashabiki and make the picks zaidi interesting.

3. Try to ask maswali that people haven't already asked and maswali that people will be interested in. Don't make it boring.

Now these are the three golden steps to making a good, quality pick on fanpop. If wewe feel I need to add anything, then please leave it in the comments.

I have a pet peeve.

As a writer, I have found my stuff ilitumwa on other websites without my permission, and sometimes without so much as a mention that it was MY article... au a link back to the original. This ticks me off, and it is illegal to do so.

I have not come across this on fanpop with makala yet, but I have seen it numerous times on images.

Some of the people I adore the most are even doing it. I have to assume innocence here and figure some folks just don't know... so I'ma tell ya ;)

Credit. Credit. Credit. The option to add the picha credit when wewe submit an image is there for a reason....

This is a forgery. Every single word is plagiarized. (1)

What is Plagiarism?
Many people think of plagiarism as copying another's work, au borrowing someone else's original ideas. But terms like "copying" and "borrowing" can disguise the seriousness of the offense:

According to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, to "plagiarize" means

1. to steal and pass off (the ideas au words of another) as one's own
2. to use (another's production) without crediting the source
3. to commit literary theft
4. to present as new and original an idea au product derived from an existing source.

In other words, plagiarism...

Ok, there has been a growing problem that I have recently noticed on Fanpop. I have been receiving many e-mails that are very annoying and sometimes even offending. I don't care if wewe are having a problem with another fanpopper au wewe are telling me about a new spot. The fun part about fanpop is that wewe get to discover new spots for yourself. And we might not like the certain spot. Also, if wewe are having a problem with another fanpoper than just ignore them and don't tell us about that certain person.i don't want to here it. I might even be Marafiki with that specific fanpoper. If wewe are...

I was never intending to do a follow-up makala on fanpop-addiction. I just took it for granted that I had grown happily addicted and I would remain that way. I basked in the warm, happy glow that only recognition for fanpop-contribution can give you, and looked mbele to the fanpopping years ahead.

But then disaster struck. And I'm not talking about the massive floods that have hit England... (I was fine with the cellar being filled with water...)No, my internet broke and left me without fanpop.

So now, my sekunde list. The orodha of what happens when a fanpop-addict is forced to quit.

1. When...

Okay, first of all I don't write these makala but now I'm fed up! Can anyone please enlighten me because I am confused. What is the problem if I au anybody else posts zaidi links/videos/images than another fan? If I happen to be the one with the most links/videos/images au whatever on fanpop that is because I like helping out the website. It doesn't make any sense for people to feel jealous au attack me au other people for posting zaidi content than them. That is the most absurd reason to get angry. I am posting content mainly to help out the website but I also know that some people on here...

 Plugging away at our laptops
Plugging away at our laptops
It was just about one mwaka zamani that link and I were having our regular lunch meetups downtown in the Financial District of San Francisco. Years zamani we shared a cube in Santa Clara at Yahoo! where we first met. Now we were being reunited just a few blocks away from one another and having lunch like old times. We decided to pay a visit to our inayopendelewa hole in the wall, the International chakula Court on the corner of kichaka and Kearny Streets. Most people would never have spotted this joint and even if they had they would pick up their pace and keep on walking. Being the adventurous (and cheap) guys...

No zaidi nudity and disgusting images!!
No more nudity and disgusting images!!
Please don't post nude au indecent pictures in any spot. There are children on this website. Please don't post anything wewe wouldn't want your own kids to look at. If an actress is being made fun in a picture please don't post that in their spot. And wewe should know better than to post naked pictures of them also. There is a place for those picha and it's called PerezHilton.com. It's disrecpectful to post inhumane pictures of an actress/actor in their spot. This is fanpop not hatepop. Another issue that has been irking me is duplicate images. I know I have accidently ilitumwa duplicates before...

I feel like it is time that I tell wewe how much wewe all mean to me and how fanpop has changed my life. About a mwaka zamani I became a stay-at-home mom. Which was really a blessing, however a huge stressor in my life was the fact that I had essentially no adult interaction during the siku and no way of really feeling validated. I found fanpop one siku while browsing for Office episodes online. I saw the picks and it looked so fun, that I just had to join! Since then I have spent hours everyday on Fanpop. It is my outlet for all the stresses of being a young mother who is nearly solely responsible...

This is merely an addition to Papa's fantastic soapbox makala on link (a must-read) but some users have still been asking about editing a pick that they've made after they have published it. Here's a very basic how-to.

1. How the Pick's Creator can hariri the pick:
If wewe want to add additonal choices to your options au picha to them, all wewe need to do is look for and click on the pencil ikoni on the juu of your pick. This will take wewe back to the pick creation page where wewe can freely add new options and image to your heart's desire.

2. How Voters can hariri the pick:
If the creator allowed...
