Finding a spot
There are three primary ways to find spots that fit your interests, which is really the whole point of the site.
The first (examples are marked with "1" in the illustration) is kwa kusoma the lists on the main page of the site ('fanpop home'): it's entirely possible that some content displayed there is of interest to you, whether it be a spotlit spot, a question, an image, a video, a forum, au even a spot associated with one of the mashabiki featured on the main page. In general, every time a spot name is listed anywhere on the site, it is a clickable link which will take wewe to that spot. A slight exception is the name of a spot in the "recent images" section, which will take wewe to that image in the spot, rather than to the main page for that spot (just as if you'd clicked on the thumbnail of the picture).

The sekunde way to find a spot (marked with a "2" in the illustration) is kwa using the tafuta function. On every page of the site there is a box in which wewe can type key words and then click a tafuta button to look for content that matches those words. The tafuta will try to find spots which match the words wewe enter. Note: when we talk about any content on the site other than the spots themselves (soapbox makala like this one, images, maswali & picks, fora, et cetera), we refer to them generically as 'links'. When wewe use the tafuta function, wewe may also find viungo that match your tafuta terms. tafuta results are divided into those two categories: spots, and links, so if you're looking for a spot, you'll find that listed first. The viungo are listed in the tafuta results below the first five spots listed. The orodha of link results have ikoni that represent the type of link: images, videos, et cetera, but they are all grouped in the same section. tafuta results can take zaidi than one page, so if wewe don't see the spot au link wewe want, wewe may click the 'more results' link (if available) to orodha another page of tafuta results of that type (spots au links).
 An example of tafuta results
An example of tafuta results

Note that the tafuta is a simple search, however, and does not recognize boolean expressions. That means that +”Kaiju Godzilla” +”cat monster” +video will get the same results as Kaiju cat monster video Kaiju Godzilla, as an example. In addition, the tafuta will look for each of the words wewe type separately, so the tafuta results would be the same for cat video Godzilla Kaiju monster. This means that, for our example tafuta above, in addition to getting Godzilla in the results, wewe might also get results of 'Some bila mpangilio plant on a pole', 'Cat says a-ha!' and 'monster truck rally video'. The results are organized in order of accuracy of match, however, so a video of Godzilla fighting a cat monster (if there is one) would come first. If there isn't one, you'll see a message "We couldn't find any exact matches", followed kwa a orodha of partial matches.

The third way to find spots that match your interests (marked with a "3" in the illustration, above) is to use the 'Browse spots' feature on the main page of the site. This is currently found in the bottom right of that page. wewe can click a channel title (for instance, 'Pets & Animals') and then scroll through the different spots in that channel, au wewe can get a orodha of the most maarufu spots, au wewe can orodha just the pending spots.

Fan of a spot
Once wewe find a spot that matches your interest, wewe can add yourself as a shabiki of that spot. To do so, click the link at the upper right of the page, below the link to your profaili and above the 'banner' for that spot.
The page will refresh immediately with wewe as a shabiki of that spot. Now if wewe click the 'my profile' link, wewe will see your profile, which will include that spot, as well as a running orodha of hivi karibuni sasisho made to 'your' spots (the spots for which wewe are a fan).

Fan of another user
As wewe browse the site, wewe will either find Marafiki and family wewe know, au you'll just notice other users who are posting viungo that match your interests. wewe may say that wewe are a shabiki of another user. To do so, click on the user's name au portrait picture. This will take wewe to that user's profile. If wewe want to explore a little zaidi of what this user has done on the site, wewe can select 'activity' in the juu navigation bar. The module on the right will refresh with a orodha of the viungo that the user has added to the site, with the ability to also orodha the videos, images, comments, posts to fora, maswali and soapbox makala that user has entered/created.
Once you've satisfied yourself that wewe want to add yourself as a fan, find the box labeled 'about me' on the left side of the user's profaili page, which contains the user's portrait picture, whatever biographical information the user has decided to include and a number of quick links. One of these is 'Add to shabiki List'. Click this link to orodha yourself as a shabiki of the user.

Ratings
Please rate content whenever wewe have a reaction to it, positive au negative. At the moment, wewe can rate videos, links, soapbox makala and picha (remember, when we speak of content in general, we refer to all of these types of content as 'links').
When wewe look at any of these things, you'll see a row of five grey circles with “rate this link” written across them. Click on these to rate the link in question, on a five nyota scale of 1 ('garbage') to 5 ('awesome!'), moving from left to right. It cannot be stressed enough how important ratings are, since many lists of links, et cetera use ratings as a major part of the algorithm to determine how they are displayed. In addition, the system of medali is completely based on ratings. If wewe want your content to be recognized au if wewe want to appreciate the content that others have posted, the best thing wewe can do it rate that content!

Favorites
As wewe find viungo that wewe particularly enjoy, au that wewe want to be able to find again quickly, wewe can save them to your orodha of inayopendelewa links.
To add a link to your favorites, simply click the 'save' button right under the ratings circles. To look up your orodha of favorites, go to your profaili page. Your vipendwa are listed in the left, right under the 'about me' box. kwa default, the vipendwa are organized in reverse chronological order, with the link wewe added to your vipendwa orodha most recently listed at the top. If wewe click the link 'more favorites', wewe can choose to orodha your vipendwa alphabetically kwa title as an alternative.

Sharing
If wewe find some content that wewe think someone else will really like, there are two handy ways to send them a link to that content in e-mail. In each spot, in the upper right (just under the long horizontal image (called the spot's 'banner'), you'll see a link labeled 'invite friend'. Click that to fill out a form that will send an e-mail message to your friend inviting them to use that particular spot. Note: since this makala was originally written, this feature has been expanded to track the number of new users who have registered on fanpop from your invitations. So while the invitation is primarily a way to get others to see a spot wewe like, it is also serving double-duty as a way to track how wewe have contributed to the increase of Fanpop's registered users.

The sekunde way to share fanpop content is to click the link labeled “Share this Link” (or 'Share Video' in the case of videos). This will also bring up a form, which is identical to the awali form except that the message sent to your friend will contain the URL to the link, rather than to the spot.

Report
Sometimes, even on a wonderful site like this one, there can be problems. There are two ways to ripoti such problems. First, if there is a problem with a spot (it's obscene, it violates fanpop's terms of use, au it duplicates an existing spot), click the 'report' link in the upper right of the spot (a little red flag just under the spot's banner). wewe then are aliyopewa a number of choices for what to report: the spot is either inappropriate, offensive, miscategorized (for example, if the Pirates of the Caribbean spot was listed in the televisheni channel – it's not TV, so it shouldn't be there), au duplicates a awali spot. If, on the other hand, a link is not working, wewe should ripoti that link.
The way to ripoti a problem with a link is to click the grey flag just under the ratings circles, and then select which type of problem it is: spam, outdated (if the link is to some event that has come and gone), broken (if the link doesn't work), miscategorized (the link was put in the wrong spot) au inappropriate. In either case, wewe may instead choose to select 'Don't Report' to cancel the problem report.

I guess you're already kind of resolved about this, but I thought I'd tell wewe my standing on it anyway.

If I receive messages and ukuta posts asking for me to jiunge spots au 'fan' content from Fanpoppers who I have had no prior contact with, and I'm busy, I simply ignore their pleas, with the salama assumption that they've sent them to dozens of people, and even if I didn't want to upset them kwa being non-responsive, they wouldn't notice.
However, when I have nothing on my hands (Fanpop-wise), I tend to check out their content and see if it's any good, and if I think it contributes to the club well,...

or: "Basic information about removing your account"

Special thanks to link, our fanpop guinea pig. (or should I say lab rat?)

Removing your own account is a pretty new feature, many people may not be aware of it yet.
If wewe go to Edit Profile and scroll all the way down, you'll find:
If you'd like to remove your account, click here.

Now what does this mean?

If wewe futa your account, wewe must know that:
Your contributions will not be deleted.

All your images, links, comments, foramu posts, ukuta posts, majibu remain on fanpop, inayofuata to your username.
If wewe click on that jina la mtumiaji however, wewe will be...

The fanpop website has been around for quite a few years now- 3 years in fact, and whilst it is still relatively unknown compared to the likes of Myspace, Facebook and the so-called phenomenon known as Twitter, it is still for me THE website that I pay a visit to on a regular basis.

Fanpop was formerly a small relatively unknown website, whose number of members have grown, mwezi kwa month, mwaka kwa year.

With features such as uploading images, submitting website viungo to other makala and wewe Tube video to uandishi articles, opinion pieces and posting your works of art and creating trivia questions,...

Well, I started using fanpop back in May 2007, and since then I see how the community keeps increasing in numbers which is great. I haven't been the most active user for a while now, but as I alisema somewhere else, I've always loved the site and therefore I come back every once in a while to spend some time fanpopping.

There is something I've noticed lately, that is obviously hard to control as the amount of users grows, but I thought I would point it out. What I noticed is a serious misunderstanding of the idea behind the "props" feature.

~ Let's start with the basics, according to the Online...

The concept of the heshima is wonderful. fanpop is a user based site and users should have the ability to reward others for their hard work. I also agree with the idea behind heshima Day. It should serve as a reminder to all users to give that reward. However, the heshima system has become flawed. Very flawed. I happened upon a user profaili and saw several props. I looked to see when the user started Fanpopping and saw that it had only been two months. Wow! This person must have added tons of content. So I looked at the activity. No viungo had been added, no videos, no picha (mind you, the profaili had...

I'm not afraid of you, Ghost!
I'm not afraid of you, Ghost!
So I was hanging out on my computer this evening, watching some video and browsing on Fanpop, when I noticed something that disturbed me. In not one, but two different spots. I discovered several examples of what I believe to be "Ghost Accounts".

"Ghost Accounts" are what I'm calling additional accounts created kwa an already existing fanpop member to skew the results of a pick au an argument in their favor. I have read things ilitumwa kwa other Fanpoppers suggesting their existence in the past, but hadn't knowingly spotted any for myself. Tonight I believe I spotted three different people doing...

I did it again.

I accidentally hit the "start chat" tab again.

And couldn't remember how make it go away.

I've had this problem a few times before and have to re-learn it every time.

For some reason, I'm always under the impression that the solution lies under my profaili settings.

It does not.

So now there is an makala to remind me, and anyone else who needs it, how to get rid of this dang thang.

 NOOOOOO
NOOOOOO

Step 1: Under the "contacts" tab, click "I am online." The words, not the pencil. If wewe click the pencil, it will complicate things and you'll have to reload the page.

 LET ME OUT

Step 2: Click "Log out."

Anddd we're back to normal. Carry on.
Anddd we're back to normal. Carry on.

It's not the most obvious way out, but it's easy once wewe finally remember how to do it, so I hope this helps cut down on some frustration. (If not for you, at least for me inayofuata time I accidentally open it and frantically tafuta for a solution. =P)

Have wewe noticed that people on this site add lots and lots of things and gain load's of mashabiki then out of nowhere are never adding again au only add now and then. Look through your shabiki orodha and see who is still adding and praise them for there loyalty and praise even zaidi au even heshima them for their work, they all deserve it.

kwa the way this is my first soapbox
 what it says above
what it says above
Ok, I usually don't make user guides but this one needs to be made. I have seen a lot of picks and a lot of them are boring au annoying. Here is a orodha of steps to help wewe out.

1. Try to have zaidi than three majibu if possible. If the swali is "Who should Jim be with?" Put, Karen and Pam, and then put an answer like neither au Katy.

2.Always have pictures for the swali if it isn't a yes, no, au maybe question. Pictures bring in zaidi mashabiki and make the picks zaidi interesting.

3. Try to ask maswali that people haven't already asked and maswali that people will be interested in. Don't make it boring.

Now these are the three golden steps to making a good, quality pick on fanpop. If wewe feel I need to add anything, then please leave it in the comments.
