Dear fellow-fanpoppers,

Recently fanpop introduced a new feature to our profaili pages:

The Showcase!

Eventhough it’s not a very complicated feature, there seem to be quite a few maswali surrounding the caps. This gave me the idea of uandishi this article, answering the most aksed questions. Let me first say that everything I write is based on how I think this new feature works. I’m not one of the fabulous F4, so please correct me if I’m wrong about something.

1. What is the Showcase?
This swali was answerd kwa F4 Dave: “The new showcase is for your fanpop bottlecap collection that will continue to grow with new and exciting nyara based on your participation and activity across the site.” In other words, the Showcase is the place on your profaili page where all your nyara are presented.

2. What are Caps?
nyara are rewards that can be earned in different ways (that I’ll explain later). Consider them prices for various things wewe do on Fanpop. They have no further purpose, it’s just fun to get them.

3. How do I get Caps?
That depends on the kind of cap. The system for getting them is automated (like the medals) so whenever wewe deserve to get one, wewe will. Some can be earned kwa doing specific things, others are aliyopewa randomly.

4. What different kinds of nyara are there?
So far there are 5 different types of Caps. I’ll explain every type and how to get them here:

2. Picture Perfect: “Now don’t wewe look sharp in that profaili picture wewe just uploaded? au is that a picture of your dog? Either way, well done.” This cap, herufi kubwa is earned when wewe pakia a profaili picture.

OK, everybody, let's all just take some deep breaths. I've been looking at maoni within the last half saa about the new fanpop layout that has thrown all of us for a loop.

There was a similar outcry of disbelief over, what I am choosing to call, the link. I am here uandishi this to gather everyone's collective panic and misgivings into one place, as well as to try and look at the positives of these hivi karibuni changes, in an attempt to placate some of your fears.

First of all, let's get the obvious out of the way. AH! OMIGAWD! fanpop LOOKS WEIRD AND IS ALL DIFFERENT! It's like Facebook and YouTube...

Ah props. They used to be a way to acknowledge on a peer to peer level that someone has ilitumwa something good. Back in my siku we used to give heshima if someone ilitumwa a good video, au alisema something intelligent but now they're thrown out like...condoms in high schools? *shrugs*

What are props?
Props are small medali that wewe can give to other users if wewe see them post something good.
eg; User_X posts a good video, User_Y gives User_X a video prop!

How can I give someone a prop?
You can give users heshima kwa going to their profaili and clicking on the "Give Props" button, then type them a short message...

Hi everyone,

I’m uandishi this makala because I believe the new ukuta system has real potential of improving the way people use the props. I realize that not all fanpoppers will follow my advize, but I still feel the urge to write this.

I’ve been on fanpop for quite some time now, and I’ve received and aliyopewa quite a few props. However, only a small amound of the heshima I received were ‘real props’. To clarify: kwa ‘real props’ I mean heshima received for actual content I’ve submitted. All the other heshima were ‘thanks for being a shabiki – props’ au ‘happy whatever siku wewe came...

Reason For This Article

Recently i finally found how to screencap a page on the internet. I had been looking for ages and finally i found out how to.Naturally i was very pleased and was waiting for a chance to use it.
 My Joy was short lived
My Joy was short lived

Days went by,days turned into weeks and after a mwezi and a half i found nothing. For the times i had been on fanpop i had read the funniest, silliest things in spots and now that i could finally share them ,everyone became sensible?

This is a little game I made up just because I was bored. I enjoy it, so I figured I’d share it.
Just a warning: This game is only fun if there’s a spot you’ve added a lot of picha to, but enough have been added kwa other people to make it challenging.

So, the object of the game is to... get lots of points? And to encourage proper image etiquette.

Be sure to keep something handy to keep track of your points! (Paper and pencil, blank word document, calculator, etc.)

Step 1: Maneuver over to your inayopendelewa spot (or preferably, the spot you’ve contributed the most picha to)

Step 2: Look at...

The Fanwhore: Have wewe ever been added kwa someone, and then when wewe went to their profaili to possibly add them back, saw only posts with things like "Thanks for the add!" as far as the eye could see? Congrats, you've just met a Fanwhore. This person is pretty much just obsessed with getting fans. They can spend hours adding people, and will usually add back anyone who adds them. They tend to have obscenely large numbers of fans, and to get them obscenely fast. Can go ballistic if they haven't gained at least five new mashabiki in the last hour.
Also, some Fanwhores tend to reform after a while,...

I'm thinking about leaving tho.

Which club are wewe most active on?

Nobody likes it when others ruin their fun kwa telling them the end of the story. Some people just aren't as caught up with others because they're busy au haven't gotten around to it. Whether it's your inayopendelewa TV onyesha and you're a few episodes behind au a book that wewe haven't read yet, the last thing wewe want is for someone to tell wewe what happens. Spoilers can ruin the fun for everyone else and the last thing we want to do is take the fun out of your inayopendelewa stuff.

A lot of users were unhappy when mashabiki were making picks that were spoilers during the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly...

Alright, so this is sort of in conjunction with a lot of other soapbox articles, namely Temptasia's two makala on link and link. It is also a sister makala to thecon's link. Additionally, it's minutely related (like a very distant cousin) to megloveskyle's makala on link. But I really wanted to stress the importance of constructive criticism here. So at the risk of sounding (exceptionally) redundant, I wish to discuss the importance of expressing yourself, taking responsibility for your actions, and not rating and running. Forgive me if this is all too familiar (thecon's makala summed...

Lately I have noticed a swell in the amount of inappropriate comments. maoni that have sexual innuendo, are hurtful, au are just plain gross, and most of the time they have nothing to do with the topic at hand. What I fail to grasp is why people feel like they need to do this. I can't understand why they can't control themselves and write something appropriate au nothing at all. Is it a lack of sense of humor? Do they not realize that people spend a lot of time contributing to this site and a maoni like that can make all their efforts feel wasted? au do they not...
