Most definitely YES!! You have no idea just how many my own polls & quizzes I had to report so far simply because I can't edit the answers anymore! This whole constant self-reporting can be rather annoying. All of this would be completely unnecessary if Fanpop would just let us edit our own polls & quizzes even after they've been published. Most of the times it's a case of typos & misspelling, yet I can't even edit a poll question once it was published, nevertheless the answers in my polls & quizzes. I think Fanpop should fix this problem soon & let us edit our own polls & quizzes, so that all those (self-)reporting would no longer be necessary at all. I'm sure you all agree with me on this one, right?

They used to but now you only get a short amount of time to do so which I think sucks because they don't tell you how long that is. I don't get why they just don't let us edit them whenever we want. There our polls and quiz questions shouldn't we be able to edit them?

Usually I end up catching my errors a day later. Sometimes I notice right away but I can't even count the number of times when I forgot to change 'round 1' to say 'round 2' or something like that. Or with a quiz question; I realized that I made a mistake in the wording that makes the correct answer seem wrong. And then it's like my only option is to report the poll for being incorrect.

I think the point of having a cutoff (three hours, I believe) is that you can't go in after people have voted and change answers.

Like, if I asked "do you like dogs or cats better?" and then decided a month later that it would be funny to swap the answers around, dog lovers would now appear to be cat people and vice versa. As for the questions themselves, changing "do you like animals?" to "do you like Justin Bieber?" would definitely be a shock for people who have already voted. And you know some idjit would do it, too.

If you change the wording of a quiz question, or accidentally select the wrong answer as right and go back and fix it, that would affect the score of people who already answered it. Unless the fanpop guys create a way to update the score. Which sounds complicated.

If there were a way to make minor changes, like with a character limit or something to make sure you're not completely changing it, that could be useful.

@DarkSarkasm I had something else in mind. I'm not talking about changing answers or questions here. It's a case of correcting our own typos & misspelling. Many Fanpoppers are not even from English speaking countries, so we have polls & quizzes which make no sense. I think Fanpop should make some adjustments which would allow us to simply correct such small mistakes while typing, yet prevent us from making any changes in answers or questions at the same time. For instance, I had to report 9 of my own polls lately simply because I can't edit my answers from Aprove to a correct term Approve. How can anyone on Fanpop be denied of the opportunity to simply add one small letter?! That wouldn't change anything; not the results & neither would this have any effect on voting either. I believe that such small interventions should be allowed, if not by us users who have posted them, then at least by Fanpop moderators. Instead of deleting all such polls & quizzes, they can quite easily correct any typos & misspelling made by the users. I don't think anyone would mind that & everybody would be happy. It's a perfect win-win situation for me. Agreed?

@Rihanna312 Please read my previous reply. No is not exactly an option here. This is exacly why I don't like Fanpop that much, technically speaking. There is no reason at least for the Fanpop moderators not to be able to correct all such typos & misspelling in polls & quizzes, instead of constantly deleting them & to be perfectly honest I am so tired of this self-reporting over 1 or 2 small letters! I agree with ktichenor: This system sucks! Change the system soon, or more users will leave Fanpop, that's for sure & I'm not talking about me right now!! :-P

^Well, I don`t think that a typo is big enough reason to report your poll. We all are human and can make such mistakes. I, personally, don`t really pay that much attention to that even if I`d call myself a 99,9% grammar nazi. Real problem is if a poll is written illogically, but if it`s really written that bad, the person probably wouldn`t correct it right if they made it so hard to understand in the first place. But, yea, would be nice if poll was open for correction for at least a day. Even though, I don`t think more than that should be allowed, because of trolling reasons, what DarkSarcasm mentioned before.

You wouldn't be able to distinguish between people who are honestly correcting spelling or grammatical mistakes, or rephrasing the question to make it clearer, and people who are trying to cheat the results when things aren't going their way. That was the reason self-editing on polls was prevented in the first place.

^People will abuse the hell out of it, in a heartbeat. There is no automated way to distinguish legit corrections from trolling, and I highly doubt that admins will look through every edit to see if it's okay.

^What if Fanpop would hire some language experts to check all of our polls and quizzes for any possible mistakes, much like teachers do at school or something like the editors at newspapers? Would that be okay for you? We don't have to edit our own polls and quizzes, just as long somebody else, somebody neutral, can do it for us. I think that would be a great idea. Some users (like me) don't even speak English as a first language at all so we make a lot of (typing) mistakes. Wouldn't it be great if all those small mistakes could simply be corrected by Fanpop instead of deleting all those reported polls and quiz questions? I think that is a very reasonable option acceptable to all of us on Fanpop.

^Do you have any idea how many polls get posted on fanpop every day? link. Every day. Lots of users have their own style that is understandable, but probably wouldn't pass an English class. It's not school. It's a website where people come to hang out and have fun. Take some accountability and put a little effort into proofreading your own content.

Why don't you all just check if what you write is the right way before posting it? Instead of just posting, then reporting them and bitch about it. I wasn't born an English speaking person, English is only my second language, and I always make sure everything is right BEFORE posting, not after. It takes like 2 minutes to make sure you have the right wording, it's not that complicated. Dictionaries are available online, you know. And I agree, by allowing people to edit their quizzes or polls after, people would definitely decide to change all the answers and the question itself, because they think it's funny, and not just 1 or 2 letters.

My point is, why don't you just take the time, which is like 1 or 2 minutes, to fix your typos and misspelling BEFORE posting. That would save you the trouble of a) Having to report your own things, b) Be annoyed about it and c) Just whine about it. It's really not that complicated and actually really simple. If I can do it, why can't you? Are you that lazy?

@superboy16 - who would then pay for all of these proof-readers? I doubt they'd volunteer their work for free. And while Fanpop gets money from advertising - that's how the place is run - there are better ways of spending that money on running and improving the place than proof reading polls! As long as the content is understandable, it doesn't matter if something is mis-spelled, especially in cases where the creator's first language isn't English. The polls which are spoiled by the extent of mistakes are rarer, and those can just be reported and deleted.

Is there some new glitch that prevents people from ever leaving fanpop? I've been seeing a lot of users whose primary goal is to complain around here lately...

Polls already give you a chance to check before it posts - you should use that to catch and correct typos. I'm not sure if quiz questions have a similar feature - it's been ages since I've added a quiz question so I can't remember.

Editing polls and quiz questions would just lead to trolling idiots changing them as pranks.
