So a lot of people outside of fanpop and some on fanpop seem to think that Anna is stupid, especially because she agreed to marry Hans the siku she met him, and for other reasons. Maybe I'm biased because she's my favorite, but I find a lot of these wildly incorrect. I might do an entire Anna defense makala later, but I'll start with this.
The reason a lot of people find her stupid is because she fell in upendo with Hans instantly without knowing much about her. I don't believe that at all. The reason that she fell in upendo with him instantly is because she didn't know any better. Nobody taught her different because nobody thought too. Her sister stayed away from her all her life, as we know, and her parents were far to busy worrying about Elsa au dealing with royal affairs to think about teaching Anna things like that. And, there were barely any servants. Sure, her parents and sister were there for her before the 'accident', but she was about 5 years old when that happened, and at least for me, the only upendo was the upendo that were in fairytales, with the handsome prince, fair princess, and upendo at first sight. All she probably ever knew about upendo was the 'true love' talked about in fairy tales, and to her, maybe that was the only upendo there was. She knew no different. All of a sudden, a man who seems like everything she's ever read about in fairy tales shows up. He's kind, awkward like her, seems to like everything she is, and he tells her that he would never shut her out, and she believes him because she's a trusting person. And when he asks her to marry him, she says yes because if she doesn't, she might be alone again. That's the thing she hates most. Being alone. That might also be why she says all twelve of his brothers could live there with such excitement, because she loves people.
Back to the subject at hand, Hans seemed like the heroic prince, and since all she probably knows about upendo is the classic princess meets prince story, when she realizes that Hans is not the stereotypical prince, she is confused because that's the only type of upendo she knew, and when Olaf comes in, she even says it, " I don't know what upendo is anymore", Olaf finally explains it to her, "Love is putting someone else's needs before yours". And that's when she finally learns. After years of not knowing what upendo is, she finally learns, and sacrifices herself for Elsa.
In conclusion, even though she does things that people find stupid, she is not stupid at all, she is actually quite smart, just naive and trusting, and for a good reason.
