Their upendo does work because Akito's overpowering and control based emotions are condemned kwa Shigure's easy going waves....Yet Shigure's selfish point of view is phased kwa Akito's increasing gentle and understanding side...It took a while for me to comprehend at first, but the easiest couple for me was Mitchan and Ritchan

No in the anime, she's portrayed as a man, but if wewe take a look at the manga, Shigure, Kureno, and of course Akito have 'intimate relations'. Shigure admits to his feelings for Akito in depth in a chapter in the duration of the manga...I forget which one specifically though...but in the end Akito and Shigure do end up in a romantic relationship...i support them as well as all the other couple in Furuba!~ Kyo and Tohru~

Very true...I was so sad that Kureno had 'intimate relations' with Akito... but I am proud of Tohru and Akito for overcoming their deep valley of misconception and creating their own bond! Shigure revealed his true colors during the in-depth manga area...their couple is cute...

In the anime, it only covers vitabu 1-8, so we never get up to the part of the manga where it is revealed Akito is female, so in the anime Akito is male. But in the manga, it is revealed Akito is female, but her motehr Ren raised her as a male because she thought Akito would take her place in Akira's (Ren's husband, Akito's father) heart, and also she didn't believe it was right for such a powerful place in the family to be held kwa a girl au something. In the end, Akito begins living as a woman when Shigure buys her a womens kimono. It turns out that was Shigure's plan the whole time because he loved Akito, but she was in a sexual relationship with Kureno, another Zodiac member (the Rooster). Then there's complicated side information about Shigure having a brief sexual relationship with Ren in retaliation of Akito's relationship with Kureno, but we need not go into that, do we?

So, yeah, Akito's a girl.
