Why Teens Should Not Use Captions

We all know those awkward conversations with our parents, whether it be about a boy/girl au something we saw au hear. Well i’ve had many of those with my lovely mother and father but one battle in particular was most memorable. While watching Grease wewe should not use captions as a 12 mwaka old girl with your mother in the room.

I was 12 years old sitting comfortably in my living room happily imba along to the happy smiling faces and bright colored costumes.

“Oooh cool grease” my mom said, plopping down on the kitanda inayofuata to me.

My mom sat there imba along with me, having never had the captions coming across the bottom of the screen inaonyesha the true meaning and the graphic lyrics of the songs being sung.

“What the heck? What words did I think were being sung?” my mom exclaimed, laughing a nervous laugh.

I was 9 years old when my mother introduced Grease to me, starting my upendo of musicals. She had watched it with me the first thousand times I watched the movie. I was like a small child replaying Little Mermaid over and over, learning what I thought the lyrics were and meant. Now at first wewe would think since she grew up with the movie Grease she would know the meaning and words and content, and not onyesha it to a naive 9 mwaka old little girl. But no, she herself was just as naive and really saw the movie as just a silly upendo story.

It became a tradition, every time my cousins and I gathered at our grandfather’s,Grease, to us, was just one big mushy happy summer romance story, not a movie full of innuendos about "sexual content”. “...Then we made our true upendo vow...”(Grease (Rockin' Rydell Edition). Dir. Randal Kleiser. Perf. John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John, Stockard Channing. Paramount, 2011. DVD.) That one line of lyrics in “Summer Nights” all about finding wewe one true upendo is what the whole movie was to us.

There came a point where I asked for the special edition Grease that came with a zip up leather koti, jacket on the case, for my birthday and my mom agreed, happy to own the movie. I was about 11 au 12 when she bought It. I was soo excited! I continued watching and imba the lyrics i understood not what was being said, but what I understood.

It was a night like any other. I had gotten into my pajamas and slid the movie into the DVD player, jumping on the kitanda I bundled up and pushed play.

“Oooh cool Grease.” my mom alisema plopping down on the kitanda inayofuata to me.

She sat there imba with along with me, never having the captions coming across the bottom of the screen inaonyesha the true meaning and the graphic lyrics of the songs being sung. The captions came on automatically when putting the movie in, The automatic lyrics came with the special edition movie.

“What the heck?, what words did I think were being sung?” my mom exclaimed laughing a nervous laugh.

“I don’t know; what’d it say?” I said, I was still sitting there looking at my mom puzzled still imba along to what i “thought” the lyrics were, not paying the slightest attention to the captions, after all who needed to use captions when wewe knew all the words anyways?

“You can not watch this! i had no idea what the lyrics actually were!”

“Mom no! wewe can’t take this away from me! It’s my inayopendelewa movie, I’ve watched it for years now!” I was getting upset and angry that she was taking away Grease!
It was taken away from me and my grandfather warned that i was no longer allowed to watch the movie, my lesson learned was DO NOT use captions as a 12 mwaka old girl, watching Grease with your mother in the room au else it will be taken away from you.

Guess mine is not the first moyo broken,
My eyes are not the first to cry I'm not the first to know,
There's just no gettin' over you
Hello, I'm just a fool who's willing to sit around
and wait for you
But baby can't wewe see, there's nothin' else
for me to do I'm hopelessly devoted to you
But now there's nowhere to hide,
since wewe pushed my upendo aside
I'm not in my head,
hopelessly devoted to you
Hopelessly devoted to you,
hopelessly devoted to you
My head is saying "fool, forget him",
my moyo is saying "don't let go"
Hold on to the end,
that's what I intend to do
I'm hopelessly devoted to you
But now there's nowhere to hide,
since wewe pushed my upendo aside
I'm not in my head,
hopelessly devoted to you
Hopelessly devoted to you,
hopelessly devoted to wewe

Well, if wewe are way too old for halloween, it's a cool outfit for wewe and your gal pals!
First, grab a light pink koti, jacket au another color wewe would like. If wewe don't have one, dip a leather koti, jacket in pink paint au another color wewe and your gals like and let dry. On the back, use permanent marker to write pink Ladies au your group's name in cool handwriting.
Wear tight-to-skin leather pants, leggings, au colored jeans. Wear high-heels au ballet kujaa au some girly but retro but trendy BUT edgy shoes.
Curl your hair and put in a frizz-free ponytail. So, now wewe have a stylish pink Ladies...
