For me I thought that hug showed how relaxed and comfortable Harry and Hermione are with each other. Romantic feelings aside, you knew there was something enduring between them with this hug. It was completely warm and unabashed, showing a high level of caring. As far as not hugging Ron, it was unfortunately at this point that I realized something was probably going to happen with them because not touching is an adolesent way of showing you like someone, but I held out, hoping it was just a passing phase.
