The National Assembly voted down a revision bill that would raise the age for watu mashuhuri featured in alcohol ads, which means K-pop singer IU can continue to honor her contract with alcoholic beverage maker, Hite bia & Jinro Soju.

In April, the Health and Welfare Committee floated a revision bill that would set the minimum age of actors and watu mashuhuri in ads for alcoholic beverage at 25.

But the bill failed to pass the Legislation and Judiciary Committee at the parliament.

IU, one of the most sought-after models for commercials, is 23.
