Sorry, the wording is stupid, I can’t think. Okay YES I realize I never finished these shows so therefor I could have a change of heart lol Promise, no hate. Just my opinions. And I don’t even hate or dislike these things just find them overrated.


Stiles & Lydia; This is one I’m positive about because I watched a big chunk of the show but in my opinion I never saw Lydia being into Stiles and it seemed very one sided to me.
Jack & Kate; Everyone swore I would ship them but I just didn’t get the connection, but to be fair the same goes with Skate, but I don’t see them talked about as much as Jate. But if I continue who knows we will see lol
Quinn Fabray; I watched a few episodes of Glee and didn’t get the hype at all. I realize that she changes as the show goes on but according to Nic and Elle I wouldn’t like her anyways.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer- Idk, I guess I just can’t get into vampires.
The Vampire Diaries- Secret exposed, I’ve watched a good chunk of Vampire Diaries and never really got into it. But I can see myself boredom watching it lol.
Delena/Stelena Triangle- While watching the vampire diaries I never understood the hype of either couple or why this triangle was so iconic, maybe it gets more deep in the later seasons.
The Hunger Games- I could never finish this series mostly because after a certain point Katniss, Gale, and Peeta were annoying.
Amanda Seyfried- Nothing specific but I did stop watching a lot of her projects because she openly admitted to meeting her current husband while he was still married and I know shit happens, but the way she went about it just irked me
Scarlett Johansson- Like Amanda nothing specific, but I don’t really like watching her projects because I don’t like how she took roles away from people of color and then the way she responded to it was disrespectful
Marvel MCU- Nope, never could get into it. I think I just don’t like superheroes content the only thing I really liked was Tony & Thor
DC Superhero shows- The same as above, I just can’t get into superheroes
Steve Rogers- Sorry Holly, I just never understood the hype around Steve and found other characters more interesting
Jack & Emily- This another one I’m positive about because I watched a good amount of the show, they just never caught my interest and were extremely boring for me

So we're picking the one we think it's the most overrated right?

Riverdale is probably the most stupid and least planned or professionally made series ever. I don't even hate it, I just hate the fact it's doing SO well and it continues its dangerously brainless plot, while so many important and inspiring shows get cancelled.

About Captain America, I actually like his personality in general! Idk what is it that annoys me that much about him sometimes, overall he's a good character I just never got the hype over him, there are many more interesting underrated characters in the universe imo, but I wouldn't call him overrated either. He gets way too much undeserving hate sometimes.

Love MCU, THG, TVD & Quinn but I agree they all are overrated a bit.

The triangle is iconic bc of the whole fan-base going full on civil war at the time :p I also love both relationships of it.

Oh god, RiverFAIL! I wanted to love this show SO bad, I grew up with Archie comics and was so excited for it... the first season was pretty good, it was cheesy but not terribly so. I made it a little more than halfway through season 2 and just never felt like catching up.

I actually liked Bughead well enough when watching, but the way some people on Tumblr/Twitter act as if they're the greatest ship to ever exist? NO!

I completely agree about Stydia. No hate to the Stydia fans here, but they were just so terrible imo - they were really good as friends like I loved them as a brotp, but they destroyed Lydia's character in order to force them together and it sucked.

Jack/Kate - Well I could never think anything Lost related is overrated, except Juliet/Suliet ;) but they're definitely the more popular ship imho.

Deffo Marvel in my opinion. I may be biased because I've always preferred DC but most of the time I find Marvel movies disappointing and I'm not so passionate about any of the characters except for Spiderman.

And well, Riverdale is a shit show. We can all agree on that lmao

As for agreeing, yes to this.But love triangles in general like most times they are poorly done so like hmm okay

And I agree Nic about Riverdale, bc while it's so funny to watch it now, it does feel unfair for better shows being sidelined for it

Agree on se/de, tvd (definitely overrated but it has a good plot in the beginning which develops slowly & it personally left me wanting to watch more), quinn, scarlett, the super hero movies :P + lowkey jate! (i fell for them in the first two seasons but then kinda lost interest, even though i still loved and shiped them.. but i realized that lost was more plot-driven than caring to build a relationship from beginning to end!)

A lot of them, but mostly Scarlett imo. I personally don't think she's a good actress.

Honestly, I really hate the word “overrated” bc at the end of the day, you like what you like & who cares what other people think of it? I’ve never watched something just because it was a hype, I watch it bc I the plot, characters & pairing seem interesting to me.

So I can’t really answer this question bc I don’t believe in the whole underrated/overrated thing.

^ I get what you’re saying but I also disagree lol. Yes it’s okay to like what you like despite of what other people think of it (hence my next pick) but it’s also okay to acknowledge that a lot of things get attention while other things get ignored and it can be annoying at times. And that goes way deeper than just fandoms. “Hype” can actually be very upsetting for some people and I think that needs to be acknowledged instead of ignored

I'm gonna vote for Scarlett because I really don't like her taking away POC roles from the people who really want and deserve them, and doesn't seem apologetic about it. I'm sure she's not like a "bad person", I can't say anything about that, but I disagree with the way she seems to view the film industry. Obviously she's not the only one, but she's probably the most famous, current celeb doing it.

And as for what Celine & Rana were just saying ^, I have to say that sometimes it does need to be acknowledged that the things that get attention and become the most popular shows/films tend to cater to the traditional western way of seeing things. I'm gonna use a few examples that I'm personally familiar with:

1) Rami Malek getting an insane amount of hate for winning an Oscar, while Taron Egerton is incredibly praised for his performance essentially in the same category, same kind of role, same kind of story. One of these two is a POC.
2) Finn and Poe being completely sidelined in the new SW films in favor of Kylo Ren. And the incredible amount of hate given to Rose Tico.
3) Disney refusing to make that Love, Simon spinoff on Disney + for, well, an obvious reason.
4) So many Eastern games/shows/stories being adapted for a western audience with an entirely whitewashed cast.

I think that in mainstream media, things are still very heteronormative and white. I'm not saying it's not ok to have faves that are this way, because of course it is! I do, too. Nothing is inherently bad just because it's not catering to a minority. Just the same way as nothing is inherently good because it doesn’t cater to western norms. And I'm not even saying that everything on this list is something I would personally classify as overhyped. But I do see Rana's point about things being overhyped (and other things being ignored) can sometimes be problematic.

I have no idea what I'm really saying here. Feel free to ignore me.
