He stretched his arms and got out of kitanda to take a bath. He glanced at the huge windows of his hotel. There, he saw a huge crowd screaming his name. Some were crying and some were just happy. “King of Pop! King of Pop!” the crowd cheered. He opened the windows and waved to the crowd much to their delight. “Michael! Check this out!” Frank Dileo, his manager, walked into the room as he closed the windows. “What is it Frank?” Michael alisema as he sat on the kitanda inayofuata to him. “There’s this 17 mwaka old girl who needs surgery but her family couldn’t afford it. They need help” Frank alisema sympathetically as he turned on the TV. Just as he was telling Michael, the news flash came on and it was the girl Frank was telling him about. “We bring wewe a special news flash. 17 mwaka old Ellie Wyatt is still at the hospital and is currently taking chemotherapy. She is suffering from stage 1 colon cancer and is in need to take surgery. However, her family cannot afford it. So her family needs financial assistance. Any amount at all. We need those generous hearts out there” the news anchor reported almost sadly. “But on the bright side, Ellie is now conscious and is quietly waiting for a miracle to happen” the news anchor added. And just like that, they flashed a picha of Ellie with her bright blue eyes opened wide with terror, her soft curls cascading past her shoulders. There was an oxygen tube in her nose and she suddenly looked older than her young and tender age. “Please, we need your help. Please…” Olivia cried as Brad held her hand with tears streaming down his face. Michael watched with sadness in his eyes. He turned off the TV and faced Frank with the courage he never knew he had. “Frank, after the concert, I’m going to visit that girl. I want to help her…and I want to do this” he alisema with determination. “I’m with you. Now go bathe, we’re going to be late!” Frank alisema as he stood up and left. Half an saa later, Michael walked downstairs where Frank was waiting and they went to the tamasha venue. During the trip, Michael was strangely quiet and Frank was concerned. “Mike wewe alright? wewe seem a bit…quiet. Are wewe nervous?” Michael shook his head and looked at him seriously. “It’s that girl. I feel really sorry for her. I know she doesn’t deserve so much pain” he alisema sadly. “Look Mike, I feel sorry for her. I do. But right now wewe have to concentrate on this concert…this show…on making your mashabiki happy…Isn’t that important to you?” Michael nodded at him with sad eyes. “But so is helping people” he added. “I know Mike but wewe also need to concentrate on this tour. As soon as the concert’s over, we’ll go to the hospital” Frank said. Michael’s eyes glowed at his answer and nodded with a smile. At that moment, he thought of nothing but the picture of the sick girl he saw on TV that morning. Those horrified blue eyes…the blond hair…the pain that was seen through her eyes… Michael felt sorry for her. Moments later, the tamasha began and as always, it went off without a hitch. But Michael wasn’t thinking of that now as the tamasha came to an end. “Great job MJ!” the dancers, the staff, and others congratulated him. He smiled and thanked them all for doing a great job at the onyesha and went to find Frank. He found him in his dressing room leaving a sack of shabiki mail for him. “Fan mail for you”, “Thanks Frank, I’ll read those later. Let’s go to the hospital” Michael alisema as he grabbed a towel and wiped his sweaty brow. Before heading to the hospital, he stopped at a pet duka and at a maua, ua shop. He bought a bouquet of white roses that smelled exquisite. He also asked one of his staff to buy a basket of fresh fruits. “For who are those?” Frank asked as he closed the limo door. “For the girl” Michael alisema blankly. “All of those?” Frank alisema with a surprised look. Michael nodded. “Come on Mike, wewe don’t even know the lady”, “Yeah but I want to make her feel better and make her happy”. Frank could only nod. He knew he couldn’t argue with him. And as they arrived at the hospital, Michael had a huge grin on his face and a glow in his eyes. He went from room to room, visiting each patient, giving them a copy of his album and signing autographs. And at last, he went to visit the girl that he saw on TV that morning. A nurse ushered them into a room. As she slowly opened the door, Michael saw a young girl dozing peacefully in her hospital bed. Her hair was blond with soft curls. inayofuata to her kitanda was an oxygen tank with a long tube that led straight to her nose. She looked peaceful just sleeping there and Michael was almost afraid to wake her up. The nurse let them in the room as she went to girl’s bedside and gently squeezed her shoulder. “Ellie?” the nurse alisema softly, almost a whisper. Ellie slowly opened her eyes and stirred. “Hmmm?””There’s someone here to see you” the nurse let come closer and he saw the bright blue eyes stare at him in amazement. “Aren’t you..?” Ellie alisema surprisingly. “Yes I am” Michael smiled. The nurse and Frank left the room promising to come back to pick him up later. “And wewe are?” Michael asked as he sat inayofuata to her bedside. “Oh my name is Elizabeth Katherine Wyatt, but wewe can call me Ellie” she smiled. She hadn’t smiled ever since she was sick and she looked younger suddenly. “Oohhh Elizabeth and Katherine, my two inayopendelewa names” he smiled at her. Ellie thought for a moment and laughed. “Oh yes! Quite” she alisema shyly. “Oh kwa the way, these are for you” Michael smiled as he handed her the bouquet of roses. “They’re wonderful. Thank wewe so much Mr. Jackson” she smiled as she sniffed the roses and Michael laughed. “Mr. Jackson? I’d rather wewe call me Michael” he laughed softly and held out a hand to her. “Delighted to meet wewe Michael” she giggled and shook his hand. “Glad to meet wewe too” Michael said. He then handed her a small box with tiny holes on each side and she couldn’t believe what was inside. It was a mwezi old little bunny covered with tiny black spots, sort of like a Dalmatian. “Oh my god… Michael this is just amazing! She smiled as tears filled her eyes. “I hope wewe like her. Her name’s Cookie” he smiled at her, feeling like a little schoolboy. Ellie saw a little collar, alama around its neck and surely, its name was written there…Cookie. “Thank wewe so much” Ellie whispered. “Don’t mention it. All I want is to make wewe feel better” Michael smiled at her. “I feel a lot better now” she smiled at him and put the little bunny down on her lap, wrapped in a small blanket. Just then, Frank came back and told Michael it was getting late and that they had to go. “But Frank, I just can’t leave her all alone”, “Maybe wewe should go. I don’t want to interrupt anything important for wewe to do” Ellie told him. But even she did not believe her own words. She wanted Michael to stay, to be with her, and to be his friend. “But I can’t leave wewe here alone” he alisema with worry in his eyes and concern in his voice. “I’ll be fine. The nurses are here to take care of me” she smiled up at him. Their eyes met and held for a moment and she saw something in those big brown eyes that deeply touched her. Frank grabbed his hand and he walked sadly to the door as Ellie sadly waved goodbye to him. She closed her eyes and at that moment, she felt as though everything were a dream. But even she knew that it wasn’t. It was all too real… the feel of his hand… his smile. Suddenly, she felt something stir from her lap and then remembered the bunny he had aliyopewa her moments before. Cookie was looking up at her with her pool black eyes and Ellie couldn’t help but smile. “Hi Cookie, aren’t wewe just the cutest thing?” she smiled and took the bunny in her arms. While she was busy cuddling with Cookie, she hadn’t noticed that Michael came back in the room and couldn’t help but laugh at what he saw. “Oh you’re back. But I thought wewe left with Mr. Frank?” she alisema as she put Cookie on her lap, happy that he had come back even if to just say goodbye. He shook his head. “I told him I wanted to stay a little while more… if I’m not disturbing you” Michael alisema shyly. The truth was he and Frank had a heated argument outside the hospital and Frank left with so much fury after Michael told him he was staying whether he liked it au not. “Whatever Michael. But if anything happens to you, don’t come crying back to me!” he shouted at him as he slammed the limo door behind him and drove away swiftly. “It’s alright but I might be interrupting something wewe need to do and I don’t want wewe to have trouble” Ellie alisema worriedly. Michael laughed as he sat inayofuata to her bed. “Relax. I’ve got nothing zaidi to do” he smiled at her. She smiled back at him, glad that he had stayed. “Who are wewe with here?” Michael giggled. “Well, my mother, my father and my brother, Nicholas” she smiled up at him, her bright blue eyes glowing as she alisema the words. “Where are they now?”, “Well, mom and dad went out to but some fresh fruits and Nick went to see this girl he’s been asking out a week ago” she said. There had been rumors that her brother was seeing a dancer but she didn’t tell him that. “Michael?”, “Yes?”, “How does it feel to be really famous? I mean, really really famous” Ellie said, fascinated kwa his lifestyle as a nyota and he could only laugh. “To tell wewe the truth, I don’t know. Whenever I do these charity and stuff, I forget who I am and I feel like a normal person, just like you” he smiled at her and she only nodded. “Oh, these are for you” he alisema and handed her the basket of fresh fruits. “Michael, thank wewe so much. This means so much to me” she smiled up at him and he thought she looked younger than ever. Their eyes suddenly met and they both laughed. Then they talked about Michael’s life and also his lifestyle, his work, his music, his dancing, his mashabiki and how he loves them so much, the paparazzi and the press and the stupid rumors made against him and also his upendo for children. He explained to her that without children, he’d rather choose death. Ellie listened to him in fascination as his eyes glowed as he told about his humanitarian efforts and how he wanted the world to change. Ellie, on the other hand, told him about her life, her family and her parents. She also told him about the rumors about his brother that he was seeing a dancer and Michael laughed. She also told him how she also loves children and planned on adopting many one siku and they both laughed at the thought. It was getting late and the doctors came in and gave Ellie a sedative shot to get her to sleep. Ever since that horrible day, Ellie had a hard time falling asleep so she had to be sedated. As she slowly closed her eyes, she whispered softly to Michael. “You should go…Take care” she whispered. And finally, her eyes closed, drifting off to sleep and Michael’s face was the last one she saw. Hours past and kwa morning, Ellie woke up, but this time, Michael was gone. All she saw now was her parent’s faces, tears spilling from their eyes but a smile on their face. “Sweetheart, we have very great news. We’ll have wewe in surgery” her mother alisema to her. “Really mother? But I thought we couldn’t afford it?” she said, unable to believe what she was hearing. “Michael Jackson promised to pay for the whole surgery. You’ll be getting better soon” her father held out and touched her hand. So that was it… it was Michael… he had promised to pay for her surgery. Cookie was still dozing off on her lap and she saw something different. There was his album on her lap and there was a note stuck on it. “Get well soon. Love, Michael” was written on the note. And as tears filled her eyes, she glanced at it one zaidi time and softly whispered “Thank you”.
