The whole point of MH is that they are monsters as teenagers. Teens rebel, don't make a carbon copy of the parent monster.

Research the monster parent. Make her freaky flaw a real flaw that the monster could potentially have. Clumsiness is not a flaw.

And here is a few of my own; dark essence(s): those whom reside as an insane conscious and take the forms of humans au other creatures, dream eaters: also taking the form of a human, but a few unnaturalities.
