 D. Elliot Woods
D. Elliot Woods
The pandemic has taken its toll on everyone. But, imagine being stuck in isolation with your abusive husband. Would it drive wewe to the edge of no return?

This the basic premise of actor-turned-filmmaker D. Elliot Woods’ new short film “Life and Lemons.” The film took shape during the Hollywood shutdown, being conceived and safely shot with a limited cast, including Sandra Thigpen Ferrari and Keith Burke.

Previously, Woods has portrayed both humans and aliens in several “Star Trek” projects. He has also appeared on many TV shows, like “NCIS: LA,” “Ballers,” “Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D,” “Friends,” and “Drake & Josh.” In addition, he writes, produces and directs projects for his Fly Free Entertainment company and is currently working on two new projects.

D. Elliot Woods recently answered a few maswali about “Life and Lemons”:

Tell us about your new short film “Life and Lemons.”

WOODS: “Life and Lemons” is a suspense/thriller with horror edges. Just when wewe think wewe know what’s going on… turns out it’s not quite what wewe were thinking. We’re hoping folks enjoy it.

What inspired wewe to write the script?

WOODS: A couple of days into the quarantine, I heard a news ripoti saying police were getting a much higher rate of Domestic Violence calls than normal because people were unable to take periodic breaks from one another. It’s a horrible thing to be unable to get away from an abusive person – be it physical, emotional au psychological damage being inflicted. I was thinking about the news ripoti and looking in my back yard when a lemon, limau fell from the mti and I immediately thought “When life gives wewe lemons… make lemonade.” And I immediately knew that was the premise.

You play Daniel; why did wewe want to portray this character?

WOODS: Casting for TV and a lot of films moves quickly. As a result, Actors are often cast kwa how they’re generally perceived rather than kwa their abilities because there isn’t always ‘time’ to look for ‘different.’ In my case, I’m often cast as good-natured characters au in authoritative roles. I’ve rarely been cast as the ‘bad guy’. When you’re doing independent film, wewe look for ‘challenges au opportunities for roles outside of your normal so that wewe can expand as a performer.

Was it difficult to direct the film while also starring in it?

WOODS: It was challenging but not difficult. I’m what’s called an Actor’s Director and I had the good sense to surround myself with super talented actors who I knew would be open to the frequency I operate from but zaidi importantly I knew Sandra Thigpen Ferrari and Keith Burke would bring zaidi to their roles than what was on the page. Because we were in the middle of a quarantine cinematographer and editor Edgar P. Davis was available and he is an absolute auteur who understands my thought process and speaks my ‘crazy.’

Any interesting stories from the set wewe can share with us?

WOODS: I’ve known everyone involved with the project for years, so what made this experience stand out was the fact that we had to be different because of the pandemic itself. It was all of our first experiences at using social distancing protocol in front of and behind the camera. I’ve never been a part of a production where, literally, no person au character ever touches au physically comes close to another person.

What’s the biggest lesson wewe learned from working on this project?

WOODS: Truly anything is possible! We are living in uncertain times and having to learn how to navigate and operate differently and safely on-the-fly. But when folks believe in something collectively and are willing to invest of themselves to solve difficult au complex issues… there’s always room for magic to enter.

And, now just for fun:

Who’s your inayopendelewa director and/or actor/actress?

WOODS: Spike Lee’s body of work as a director is awesome. I’m hoping he sees this, hires me and pays me huge money.

What film from the past do wewe wish wewe created?

WOODS: “The Hustler.” It’s one of the few sinema I’ve ever seen that is a completely different film experience when wewe focus on any specific character rather than just seeing the movie as a whole.

Favorite movie au TV onyesha from your childhood.

WOODS: “Miami Vice.”

Tell us one thing that would surprise our readers to learn about you.

WOODS: My Marafiki constantly yell at me to do stand-up comedy – which I do enjoy – but there’s never enough TIME.

How can mashabiki keep up with you?

WOODS: IG: @DElliotWoods link
Twitter: @DElliotWoods link.
I’m getting “better” at posting things. I used to be absolutely heinous. LOL Thanks!

Thanks -- and keep making Lemonade!

1.The fox, mbweha and the Hound

-There are two reasons this movie could make a person cry. First off, the ending. It's heartwarming, and bittersweet. The story between the two mbwa really is something that could make a grown cry. But not me. What did it for me was the song, "Goodbye May Last Forever". Honestly, what kind of a Disney movie is this that would make such a dead depressing song in it? And the faces of the old lady and Todd are heartbreaking. The old ladies face is of sadness and remorse, while the fox's face is just happy and curious. That is, until he realizes what is happening to him....

[This makala was originally ilitumwa on the Animated sinema spot]

I recently realised that I have been missing out on many interesting animated movies. I am a true Disney shabiki at moyo and no sinema will ever be able to give me the same feelings that Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Lady and the Tramp, Hercules, The Little Mermaid and many zaidi can, but I have realised that there are many other good animated sinema out there that are not in relation to Disney at all.

In this makala I am looking a DreamWorks traditionally animated movies, which only consists of five films: The Prince of...

My review of imba in the Rain, was surprise. My mom had forced me to watch it with her, and I thought it was going to be terrible. But, to tell wewe the truth, I kinda liked it. the songs were pretty good, besides for the one where he confessed his upendo to her. The choreography and lyrics sucked. But the whole idea was a good one. Good morning was a good song. So was make em' laugh. This movie was probably one of the better vichekesho vya muziki I've seen, it was definetly better than the sound of music. I HATE that movie. hmmmmm... well, I've ran out of things to say so, bye! I have to say that, when I made this, I had no idea what I was going to say. So don't think bad stuff about me as a critic because when I review a movie I usually don't just wing it.

The Dark Knight is the 2nd Batman that was directed kwa Christopher Nolan. It came out in 2008 and is often considered to be one of the best Batman films and one of the best superhero films of all time.

However, I respectfully disagree with about the quality of this film. I have a very different outlook on this film than most people do.

First off, I want to make it clear that I don't think this film's problem is the cast. Every main and supporting character is well cast and they all put a lot of effort into their roles. Heath Ledger was a very talented and kind person and none of my problems...
