I haven't seen Pocahontas. But I did notice a similarity to the beloved American Indians. I LOVE THIS MOVIE! Did you see it in 3D?

People have been saying that Avatar is similar to Dances With Wolves, Pocohontas and Ferngully; all four movies are classic going-native films.link admitted that Avatar is like Dances With Wolves in space.

To be honest, Avatar's plot isn't exactly something to call original but Avatar is a really nice classic retelling of a much lovable plot- main character goes against the side which he initially belonged to and helps the natives. I think it's really hard to find a movie with an actual original plot. I mean- look at other movies or television shows! Plots like underdog gets the girl/guy, forbidden love which either ends tragically or happily, etc have been repeated numerous of times. If you strip the movies back down to its bones, you are bound to find a movie's similarites with other movies. It's just that each movie is fleshed out differently.

^^ Agreed.

In the end, all movies all pretty much the same. They involve a beginning of where it's described something totally different to the ending, a middle of where the "turn" of events happens and finally an ending who's totally indifferent to the beginning. As to speak, the "hero" saves the world, the two lovers get each other, etc -- as to the happy ending.
If you've read anything about the beginning of story-telling in the antiquity, that IS how all stories were inteded and always had to involve a beginning, a middle and an ending to make the story complete. So pretty much every movie has a similiraty to another, that's just the way it is. Movies are like that. I mean how many times haven't you seen the rich girl/poor boy with their parents not approving of the relationship etc -- these storylines are ALL only stories taken from the old times.

I started singing "colours of the wind" in my head a couple times lol. It doesn't bother me though. I still think it's amazing.

Avatar was still pretty amazing, i thought it was an all combo of all the different scifi/disney/romance movies that you could think of in one big movie with stunning effects!
