Sacrifices towards family and friends are performed under the preexisting condition of the perception of the value of the relationship shared between those individuals. Seemingly selfless acts done for strangers are performed motivated by the emotional gratification of living up to individual convictions. All end up being self benefitting one way or another.
There are no truly altruistic acts of kindness.
