Yes, but some younger kids get on here and fiqure "These people are saying this, so I can too." My younger sister got on my account the other day when I moved away from the computer and was looking at some comments that had curse words in them and later that day used them in a sentance. When I asked her, she said it's because we all type it, so she thought she could too. I'm not saying don't put them in, there is sometimes a reason to use them (Ex- Evil squirrels), but just put *** or #*%@!^

See, but I only try to do it on Spots where I'm pretty sure that the members are mature. Like on some TV spots, like Scrubs or House or Bones, I know that if you watch the shows, you are mature enough to know the curse words they use on the show so I feel better using them.

I have rarely seen it on here so it doesn't bother me. I rather not have the crude behavior.

And just putting them in spots that are like Scrubs or House is just fine, because they probably HAVE seen them before. I'm just talking about putting them everywhere and using them all of the time....

a lot of people find it offensive.
i do.
there are other words you can use.
cussing is totally pointless.
yeah a lot of people cuss, i have once or twice, i feel terrible afterwards but yeah.
you should still be considerate cause there are probably younger people on here or people from other cultures that find it offensive.

I've been trying to edit myself lately in the interest of not being offensive. I do, however, swear up a storm on the Weeds spot because anyone who is offended by cursing shouldn't be watching Weeds in the first place.

As far as the debate goes, I think it's splitting hairs when it comes to determining whether something might offend someone. Some words that are horribly offensive in some cultures are commonly used in other. For example, a certain British slang for a cigarette is an extremely offensive word for gays in the US. I just think people should use common sense while being aware of the fact that words have different meanings depending on who's using them. And, just like how this site is used by people of all ages, it's used by people of all cultural backgrounds so we need to just find a way to work around these differences.

i'm on forums and stuff where the guys swear a lot so i don't really care. I try not to have a potty mouth on here though because as stated there is a big range of ages and some being quite young.

All words have a purpose. All of them. Only English speakers have any problem with certain letter groupings.

And I'm sorry, but inserting * where a vowel should be is ignorant. I fail to understand how that makes the word less offensive to you. Seriously.

Also, speaking as a retired Shrink I can say with conviction that seeing or hearing the F word has never, ever scarred a child for life.

neeki picked no, but when i need to say it i bleep it out:
I don't swear that often when i write. I feel there's really no need to. Talking is different but i really think you can write a sentence without a swear word, it's just a courtesy to fellow fanpopers who might take offence. I personally don't take offence but i like to be considerate of others.

I don't do it personally but I'm not really that bothered. I mean, how young is the youngest person here, maybe eight, nine? I learned the f-word when I was six. Guess what. Children love swearing. They would do it whether it said so on here or not.
