Being "trendy and stylish" means nothing if you're making your choices according to someone else's standards instead of your own preferences.

Why try to be original or trendy? Not to sound cheesy, but just be yourself and if your fashionable, original OR neither, who cares?
But at the end of the day, I'd rather be fashionable than unique. And I don't think there's much wrong with that. Although I do admire people who stand out from the crowd. They're usually the trend starters.
To be honest though, I now know what suits me and what I'll never pull off in a million years. Of course what I wear is influenced by whats 'in', but only to a point.

I just want to wear what I'm comfortable with and I like. If it's something that people normally don't wear, I'll wear it anyway. And even if everyone wears it and it's the newest trend I'll wear it as well. I just wear what I like and that's my idea of being unique.

It's better to have your own style. It would be pretty boring if everyone wore the same type of clothes. I like having clothes that hardly anyone else has. (:
