What exactly do wewe believe has happened to John Winchester?

I remember the last episode where John Winchester played, they were coming to the Hellmouth(sorry, Buffy moment) that, if I remember correctly was opened and then shut.

John Winchester flashed a moment topside, saving the boys, before he disappeared. And if I remember correctly, it was AFTER the door was shut.

So, what is your theory?

I believe for most of Season 2, he was in Hell for making the deal for Dean - this was part of the huge amount of guolt Dean had over his father's death in the months to follow. In the Season 2 finale, when John's spirit escapes from Hell and helps the boys kill Azazel, I believe that when he vanishes in the white light, from then onwards he has been in Heaven :)
