Unbeknownst to them, they were being watched from atop a building...
Skipper felt the strange presence, and was constantly looking around him. He knew Rico felt it too, since the maniac was uncharacteristically quiet. He wasn't so sure about Private. The younger bird seemed completely uncharacteristic tonight.
Skipper once again looked along the juu of the buildings around them, and finally, his sharp eyes cuaght a glimpse of a shadowy figure, running along the top.
Like a ninja...
His first thoughts were on Bandit, but why would she come? Then he remembered. Bandit used to train CC to be a ninja too, since the girl was eager, and willing to learn. CC was surprisingly a fast learner, and was almost as mwepesi, teleka as Bandit herself. Maybe... just maybe...
Skipper broke out of his thoughts from a loud shout in German, of which I am not permitted to translate, and a crash somewhere behind them. Before he could completely process what was going on, Rico and Private were half-way to the crash sight, in a near-by alleyway. Skipper quickly followed, and they reached the place at the same time. There CC lay in a pile of broken, wooden crates, and old newspapers. She seemed dazed, but perfectly fine, despite her fall. She sat up, blinking, and taking her sourndings.
"What the..?" she mumbled, then saw Skipper, Rico and Private.
"YOU'RE ALL OK!" she cried, and rushed to hug the nearest penguins, which happened to be Rico. He didn't seem to fond of the sudden embrace, but hugged the girl back, nonetheless.
CC pulled away, and hugged Private, who gladly took comfort from her gentle, yet firm hold.
"I was so worried about you," she whispered, pulling away. "About all of you."
"What happened?" Skipper asked. "After the lights went out in the HQ?"
"Um, there was that green light, then when it was dark again, I felt some sharp pain, in my flipper-"
"I did too!" Private piped up. Rico shook his head, indicating that he didn't experiance that particular thing. CC continued.
"I'm not entirely sure what happened after that, but I then found myself in a dumpster. Speaking of which..." She pulled her bow out of her hair, and picked out some bits of trash. "And, after that, I figured I need to come find wewe guys, so I started walking along the roofs, and followed wewe when I found you." She stuck her bow back in her hair. "And here we are now." She shrugged.
Skipper listened closely to the story.
"This doesn't sound like the work of any of out enemies," he said, thinking out loud.
"Could be a whole new enemy!" CC replied, darkly. Private whimpered, and collapsed. CC gasped, and was at his side ina flash.
"Private!" she cried, slapping him to consiousness. "I didn't mean it that way. Don't be so scared!" Private groaned.
"Wha...?" He sat up, and placed his flipper to his head.
"I feel so dizzy," he groaned again. CC looked at Skipper and Rico, concern in her dark brown eyes.
"This is something zaidi serious!" she concluded, and put her head in her flippers. "If only Kowalski was here!"
"And he is!" a voice at the end of the alleyway annouced, and Kowalski walked up to the group. He saw Private on the ground, pale, and shivering, and frowned.
"He doesn't look so good," he muttered, andknelt down to examine him.
"Now that wewe mention it, I feel slightly dizzy," CC alisema to herself. No-one seemed to hear her comment. "It's probably nothing," she added.
Kowalski sat up from examining Private. His face was expressionless.
"This isn't good," he said, gravely...
