Fifteen-year-old Kellie Brownlee was last seen on May 20, 1982 in Novi, Michigan. She and her boyfriend, Mark Graves took the bus to school, but Kellie skipped classes and hitchhiked to the Twelve Oaks Mall to apply for jobs at various stores.

A friend's mother saw her at the mall and offered to give Kellie a ride, but she turned her down, saying that she planned to place more job applications before going home. It was the last time anyone saw her.

At the time of her disappearance, she was living with Mark and his family in their apartment in Walled Lake, Michigan due to her abusive stepfather, Paul Brownlee. Paul denied abusing Kellie and said that he had nothing to do with her disappearance.

A counterfeiting operator named James Mitchell DeBardeleben was considered a suspect in Kellie's case. In addition to his counterfeiting ring, DeBardeleben was suspected of attacking and murdering various women; however, the police couldn't find a connection between him and Kellie.

In 2018, authorities announced that a man named Arthur Ream was another possible suspect in Kellie's disappearance. he was convicted of murdering a 13-year-old girl in 1986 who was dating his son.

Kellie's case is classified as a non-family abduction.
