Haleigh Cummings

Five-year-old Haleigh Cummings was last seen on February 9, 2009, sleeping in her family's trailer in Satsuma, Florida. She went to bed at 8:00 p.m.; her father, Ronald's live-in girlfriend, Misty Croslin went to sleep in the same room at 10:00 p.m. and her 3-year-old brother was also sleeping the room as well.

Ronald came home from work sometime after 3:00 a.m. on February 10, 2009 and Misty told him that Haleigh was missing from her bed. The rear door to the trailer was several inches ajar and the screen door was propped open with a cinder block. Ronald and Misty called the police at 3:37 a.m. to report her missing.

The police didn't find any forced entry to the trailer and Haleigh's brother claimed that a man dressed in black came into the trailer that night and took Haleigh. At the time of her disappearance, Haleigh visited her biological mother, Crystal Sheffield every other weekend. Ronald was given full custody of Haleigh and her brother in December of 2005.

The authorities have been skeptical about Misty's story, stating that she failed four polygraphs, failed one stress voice test and changed her story about what happened to Haleigh multiple times. Misty and her older brother, Tommy Croslin Jr. accused a man named Joe Overstreet of kidnapping Haleigh, but he has not been named a suspect in her disappearance.

In January of 2010, Ronald, Misty and Tommy were arrested on drug trafficking charges along with Ronald's cousin and a friend. All of the defendants (expect for Misty, who pled no contest to the charges and was sentenced to 25 years in prison) were sentenced to 15 years in prison. Ronald was released from prison in 2022.

Haleigh's case remains unsolved. It is classified as an endangered missing person and a homicide. She has a genetic condition called Turner Syndrome and may require medical attention.
