Six-year-old Jesus De La Cruz was last seen on September 28, 1996 in Lynn, Massachusetts.

Disappearance

Jesus was last seen pushing his bicycle (which had two flat tires) at 6:00 that evening walking home with a 9-year-old male friend. According to Jesus's friend, they were approached by an unidentified white male in his 20s or 30s with shoulder-length black hair. The man was walking a shepherd/collie dog with one white eye and one brown eye.

The friend said that the man lured Jesus away by promising to get him a new bike. Jesus has not been seen since. The man the boys were talking to was identified by authorities as Robert C. Levesque, who lived just around the corner from Jesus's home and owned the dog matching the description of Jesus's abductor.

Levesque had called in sick at his job the night Jesus went missing and was arrested later on. Authorities searched his apartment where duct tape and handcuffs were discovered, but it is not known if those items are connected to Jesus's case. In mid-October of 1996, Levesque was charged with a parole violation, motor vehicle offenses and possession of stolen property; however, he has not been charged in connection with Jesus's case.

The Massachusetts Department of Social Services later accused Jesus's mother, Magdalena Rodriguez of neglect, saying that she didn't report her son missing until midnight on September 28th.

Speculations include Jesus may have abducted due to theorized drug use by his family members; or that he was taken to Puerto Rico, New York or the Dominican Republic as part of a deal to keep Magdalena out of trouble. Magdalena says that she is not hiding any knowledge about Jesus's disappearance.

Prior to Jesus's disappearance, his father, Juan De La Cruz was accused of abusing Jesus and threating to abduct him from Magdalena's custody; he has not been charged in connection with his son's case.

Jesus's case remains classified as a non-family abduction.
