Twenty-six-year-old Cecilia Newball and her 6-year-old son, Rene Perez Jr. was last seen on September 20, 1994 in Los Angeles, California.

Background
Cecilia was 8 months pregnant at the time of her disappearance. She was last seen on September 20, 1994 by her husband, Alfredo Newball at their apartment writing thank-you notes for gifts that she received at a recent baby shower. Cecilia and Alfredo had been married for a year and she was on maternity leave from her job as a customer service representative at the time.

When Alfredo came home from work, he saw Cecilia's car parked in the street instead of their apartment building's parking lot. When he went inside the apartment, Cecilia and Rene were gone.

Inside of Cecilia's car, a generic store-bought goodbye card signed with her first name was discovered; her wedding and engagement rings were placed on the passenger seat. Three days after Cecilia and Rene went missing, Alfredo got a letter signed with Cecilia's name. According to the letter, Cecilia had taken up with a male doctor named Arturo, and she & Rene were moving to Honduras with him. The letter also indicated that Arturo was the possible father of Cecilia's unborn baby.

Police don't believe that the letter was from Cecilia and they believe that Alfredo knows more about Cecilia and Rene's disappearances than he has stated. Alfredo maintains his innocence and thinks that Cecilia and Rene left him voluntarily.

Cecilia and Rene's disappearances remain classified as endangered missing people.
