I came to Colorado knowing nothing, heck, I didn't even know that there was a state called Colorado. Back in Jersey I didn't have the greatest education ever. We were all rednecks. Drinkin' and smokin' was in your blood when your born here. I was no redneck though i was just a rebel. Ya i drank and did all that stuff but i'd take things "too far". That's how I ended up here with my brother and sister looking after me. My name is Beka kwa the way. I have short brown hair, and blue green eyes. I'm not that tough but I ain't scared of nothing. For a girl that's as tough as we can get. Anyway when we got to the house we had to live in I was shocked. I hadn't seen a zaidi crappy looking house in my life. We walked in and I looked around and every corner was crappier than the last. It was making me sick. I came out into the living room and Danny was unpacking the boxes that we got to take from New Jersey. I sat down on the kitanda and took a Pepsi from the chakula box our old neighbors prepared for us before we left. Danny is my 17 mwaka old brother, I trust him the most. I don't know why but he just understands what i'm going through. Danny has short brown hair like me, blue green eyes, and is skinny. We look so much alike we could be twins but I'm 12 and he's 17 so it doesn't really work out.
"Where's Sherri?" I asked taking a sip of Pepsi.
"She's at the store getting zaidi stuff for us." Danny answered carefully taking cups and plates out of one of the boxes.
Sherri is our older sister. She's 4 years older than Danny. Sherri has long brown hair and dark brown eyes. She's the one who had takin' care of Danny and me since we was born. She's kinda the mother figure in our life zaidi then she is a sister. Our mom and dad were drug attics. They were jailed for doind 'em and selling 'em. I don't really remember them cause they were always in jail when I was growing up. That's why I hate them so much. All I remember was that last mwaka we got a call that our dad died. Danny told me I cryed a little bit but Sherri was moyo broken. I helped Danny unpack the rest of the things and headed for the door.
"Were do wewe think your going kiddo?" he said.
"Umm going to explore the neighborhood," I replyed.
"Sure but take your knife."
My brother wanted to take my kisu everywere. Mostly because there's a very good chance wewe can get jumped. Most girls are scared to handle a kisu let alone a 6 inch switch blade. I really didn't care as long as I had my kisu on me. I went to my room and opened the the little drawer, grabbed my knife, and put it in my back pocket. As I headed for the door again Danny got up and stood infront of me.
"What now?" I asked
"You be careful," he alisema "You dig?"
"Yes" I alisema now aggravated
"Good," he alisema stalling
"Can I go now?" I asked pushing him to the side a little bit.
"Go ahead" he finnaly alisema moving
I grabbed my black leather koti, jacket off the kitanda and told Danny that i'll be nyumbani before dark. I stepped out the door not knowing what the world had in store for me.
