Hello? Any mashabiki out there?
PART 10: STELLA'S POV
I curled my hair quickly. I didn't want time to think. I was fairly sure this bonfie would be akward with both David and Will there. After my hair was curled the right way and my makeup was perfect I went into my closet to look for an appropriate outfit. Then a thought occured to me. This was an after school event. Which meant I could wear whatever I wanted! Yes! I pushed back the school clothes and grabbed an machungwa, chungwa tanktop and shorts. I changed in a hurry and slipped on my flip flops. Then I headed inayofuata door without a word. I didn't bother knocking, Claire would be the only one nyumbani for hours. "Claire?" I asked, shutting the door behind me. She came around the corner quickly. I laughed when I saw her. We totally matched! She was wearing a green tanktop and shortswith flip flops, Her hair was in a short braid pulled around her shoulder. It looked cool. "Wow. This is just like the first siku of kidnergarden when we both wore those light up shoes." She laughed. "Hey, those were cool!" We were interupted kwa my phone ringing loudly. "Only wewe would have police sirens as your ringtone!" Claire said. "Hello?" I answered, ignoring her. "Hey, it's David." I hated how butterflies filled my stomache when I heard his voice. "Oh, hey." I almost forgot we exchanged numbers on the bus that day. For friendly purposes only. "What time is the bonfire?" He asked. "In an hour. Why? Are wewe coming?" I could hear his friendly laugh. "Yeah, and i'm bringing Macy like wewe suggested." My moyo sank a little. They were just friends, why did I care anyway? "Oh..cool. Who's taking you?" He laughed again. "I'm driving." I nearly went into shock. "You can drive?!" The smaller part of my concentration wondered why he rode the bus. Claire looked at me impatiently. "Last time I checked." He said. I could picture how he would smile, deviously. His moyo breaking smile that angered me. "Why, can't you?" Embarassment washed over me. "I don't have a car." His laugh made my cheeks turn nyanya red with embarassment. "Your 16 and wewe don't have a car?" Ugh! "I'm 15, and not rich thank you!" He was suddenly serious. "Hey, I can pick wewe up. it's no big deal." The thought of riding in a car with him nearly brok my concentration. "Umm, hold on a sec." I pressed the phine against my hand so he wouldn't hear and looked to Claire. "David wants to know if we need a ride." She smiled. "As much as I dislike this David person, it's better than walking I guess." She sighed and I rolled my eyes at her. "Yeah, pick us up at Claire's house. Do wewe know whre it is?" "Yeah, the big one that looks over teh beach, right? She's your neighbor?" Wow. He knew everything! "Yeah, that's it." I could hear someones voice in teh background. A girl's voice. "Ok, I think you've flirted enough, does she need a ride au not?" My moyo stang at the word flirted. Ebarassment was in his voice when he answered her. "Macy! Shut up, an grab my keys." I could hear something loud. "Ouch! hey! Stop it! Mace! Cut it out! Yes really! Oh yeah? Well bring it!" Then the phone went dead. I laughed quietly. 'My moneys on teh girl. lol' I txted him. I sat down on the kitanda inayofuata to Claire. It suprised me when my phone vibrated again in 5 minutes. 'Yeah, haha very funny (; i'm here.' it said. "Claire, he's here let's go." We walked outside to see a shiny red convertible, kubadilishwa running with the juu down. David and Macy smiled at our expressions. He honked and lifted his sunglasses. "You gonna stand there all day, au what?" He alisema smiling. We got in the back kiti, kiti cha quickly. It was pretty big. "Wow." I mumbled. Macy laughed and turned the radio on. The muziki was really good. "Never ever hide, never ever hide!" The radio sang in a loud screech. Then the bass, besi cut in. It was so rythmic. Then a guy started singing. His voice was clear and just as unique as the girls. This song was really good. "Hey, what CD is this?" I asked before Clire could. "Why, ya like it?" He answered my swali with another swali as usual it was annoying. "Yeah. Who is it?" He laughed but it was Macy who answered me. "Imperial Demize." Wow. So this was there band. A smile stretched across my face. "Wow, wewe guys are good." She laughed. "We try." She was so lively and outgoing. The phrase never judge a book kwa it'scover rang in my ears. I was wrong about her that first day. Her pink highlights and rocker look was just her style. She didn't care what people thought. She would probably be prettier without all teh dark makeup and spiky necklaces though. David's style was zaidi casual rock. He fit the rocker image without looking gothic au emo in any way. Will was zaidi beach-guy look. I liked both styles. Dangit! Why was I comparing them agaiN!? wewe like Will, and JUST will! that's it! I ordered myself in my mind. "Impressive." Claire mumbled under her breathe. She was shier than I noticed. She was txting someone on her phone. Probably Ethan. I wondered how the boys would react to us riding with David and Macy. In their eyes tehy were total outcasts, while in mine they were friends. probably aquaintances to Claire. wondered what she really did think about them. I pulled out my phone and scrolled in my contacts till I found "CaireBear(:" 'What do wewe think about david & macy??' I hit the send button and waited. I could hear her phone vibrate she looked up at me in confusion and txted back 'there cool.' Thank god! I nodded at her and put my phone in my back pocket. Macy had her feet up on the dash board. She was nodding her head to teh music. David drove good. Not a hair out of place. When we got there, I was suprised when he came around and opened the door for us. "Thanks." Claire mumbled while I looked up at him with bright eyes. I couldn't help it. He met my gaze for a dakika and then we were interrupted. "Hey, wewe guys made it!" Ethan alisema jogging towards us. He looked at David and Macy curiously but dropped it. Claire went with him while my eyes scanned for Will. I found him in a second. "Hey, i'm gonna go see ..Will. I'll see wewe later?" I asked. That look was faintly glowing in his eyes. "Oh, sure. Were just gonna go sit kwa the fire." He said, dragging Mac along. I never noticed how short she was. She was tiny, and he was pretty tall. About the same height as Ethan. They looked funny. I laughed to myself and went to jiunge Will. He was already staring at me. His eyes flickering back and forth between me and David. "Hey." I alisema when i reached him. I leaned up and kissed him on the cheek. "Since when do wewe hang with the losers?" He asked me jealously. I glared. I was suprised yet again kwa the anger that flashed through me. "there not losers, there my friends." He scoffed, "There outcasts!" i smacked his hand away from my face, angrily. "Will, stoppit! They are not outcasts!" He let it go. As it got darker, the people got wilder. Claire and Ethan were cuddling on teh sand. Sudenly they started playing 21 Guns bye Greenday. My moyo fluttered. "I upendo this song!" Will and I alisema at the exact same time. I laughed. Suddenly he was serious. He wove his fingers through mine. "Why not make this our song?" He whispered in my ear. I smiled so wide I thought my teeth would fall out of my head!"Isn't that sorta like a girlfriend, boyfriend thing?" I asked halfheartedly. He reached in his pocket and pulled out a box. My eyes bugged out. He opened it slowly, kusoma my expression. Inside was a necklace. The chain was dhahabu and the one pendant that hung was a golden heart. My moyo beat so loudly i'd bet he could hear it. I gasped. "It's...beautiful." He put it on me. Tehn he leaned his forehead against mine and peered into my eyes. "You know i'm pretty sue I like wewe a lot zaidi than i originally intended. So i thought if I didn't make it official, I might lose my chance." His words repeated themselves in my head, ringing through my ears. I answered him kwa throwing my arm around his neck and kissng him with so much passion teh room could light fire. If it did, I didn't notice. that's for sure. We were again interrupted kwa Sam. His dark skin was shining with sweat. He had been dancing with a group of people. "Come on bro, your girl'l still be here in half an hour. COme hang with us." Before he could answer, Sam was dragging him away. I winked at him and turned. David was staring at me, from teh fire. I waved. He stared. His gaze made me uncomfortable. I went to go sit down on teh log inayofuata to him. "Having fun?" I asked him. Macy was dancing with some guy wildly in teh senter of teh floor. "Not near as much as you." I was too happy to fight with him. "Ohh, c'mon!" He looked up at me, for the first time since I sat down. My curled hair had already fallen and was now in a ponytail. Not a hair was outta place on him. He flipped it to the side, something guys wth hair like that do when it's in thier eyes. His blue eyes almost glowed in teh dark. It did him justice. He looked bored. "This is lame, when are we leaving?" He asked me. "Ok, ya know what. We'll leave, right after wewe have fun." He lifted his eyebrows in confusion. I stood and reached for his hand. He suspiciously took it and stood up. "Your gonna dance with me." I said, keading him to the spot where everyone else was dancing. I stopped towards the middle and grabbed his other hand. "Stella, I don't do dancing." He mumbked under his breath, looking around self consiously. "Me either, so this should be interesting." We danced together for two whole songs. Slow, and fast songs played. I could feel Will watching me. We laughed, and I was sure he was having fun. Soemoe tapped on my shoulder. I turned to see Sam, again. He had a glass of bia in his hand and was obviously drunk. "Sam, oh my god! wewe need to sit down." I said, panicing. David was glaring at him, disgusted. "Not till wewe dance with me lil girl." he said, spinning me drunkily. I fought against him. "Sam, stop it!" i yelled. He fought back. I could see Will, but he couldn't see me. He was talking to one of teh vollyball players, too far away to hear me. "Hey dude, she alisema stop." David alisema moving to stand in front of me protectively. Sam grinned drunkily. "Step away, kid." He said, stepping around him. Sam reached for me again, but this time he fell, spilling his bia all ovr me. Uh oh. David met my worried gaze for a moment. And then I ran. I ran like the wind. I had never ran so fast in my life. I barely made it into the water. I wasn't aware that David had followed me. He looked into teh water, while I tried to hide. there was no place to hide! "STELLA!" he yelled. When I didn't come up, pulled off his shati revealing a nice body. He njiwa into the water, which was too shallow for me to hide in. I tried to swim away but I couldn't. Under the water, his eyes widened, seeing me. I froze in shock and swam to the surface. He followed. "What the hell is going on!? your a..a.." I cut him off. "A mermaid, Dabid. I'm a mermaid." He eyes widened. "How is that even possible? "Look i'll explain later if wewe help me dry off. He nodded his head and pulld me to the sand. No one was around, thank God! I could feel his eyes on my tail as I tried to dry it with his shirt. "I knew wewe were different." He whispered. I looked up in time to meet his gaze. His eyes were troubled, yet sincere. "David, your not gonna...tell anybody, right?" He snapped out of it, his usual sarcastic look. "And have wewe dissected? I don't think so, we were just beginning to get along!" I smiled and threw my arms around his neck. In the same sekunde I was human again, my clothes dry. He akwardly patted me on the back. Wesat and talked for a whole saa before Claire found us. "Stella! There wewe are! Sheila told me what happened, she saw Sam spill his drink on wewe so I knew you'd be down-" She stopped, seeing David. "What is this? What does he know?" she growled, her eyes tightening. "Everything. he helped me." I answered, smiling at him. "Oh great! Now were gonna become science experiments! and-" He cut her off. "Wait! Your a mermaid, too? Both of you?" He alisema looking bewildered. She looked embarassed. "Last time I checked."
