Walking Dead: AMC may have revealed ANOTHER death
More than ever, the team behind AMC\'s hit zombie series are keeping their cards close to their chest. But with just 18 days to go till the secret is out, here are seven things we know for a fact about the new season.
potential victims? Don\'t forget, before he began the vicious beatdown, Negan warned: "Anybody moves, anything says anything – cut the boy\'s other eye out and feed it to his father."
...which would seem to rule Rick and Carl out, right?
So that leaves Michonne, Glenn, Abraham, Sasha, Eugene, Aaron, Rosita, Maggie and Daryl – and while Norman Reedus has been trolling us with hints that his fan-favourite rogue could bite the dust, Digital Spy readers are banking on Glenn as the most likely target, with Abraham a close second.
But wait, there\'s more! How do you surprise an audience that knows one major death is coming? By delivering
Series producer Greg Nicotero has let slip that the next season would feature "deaths" – plural – so is Negan going to get swing-happy for a second time?
That would chime with Jeffrey Dean Morgan\'s comments on the opening episode and how "hyper-violent" it is: "You won\'t be able to see Negan without thinking of the premiere episode. What he does is so strong and so shocking."
And the "fun" won\'t stop there. Negan will loom large over the entirety of the next 16 episodes –and likely beyond, with Nicotero telling us that the character\'s arrival will have a permanent, devastating impact.
from the one we are accustomed to," he said. "We close one chapter and open a whole new chapter."
"It\'s only just beginning, really," Lauren Cohan (Maggie) told DS of Negan\'s reign of terror. "He has such a life, such an electric energy, and that\'s what makes this character so terrifying."
is changing: the Ricktatorship is officially OVER. For six years, a grisly demise was the reward for anyone who dared to question the God-like Mr. Grimes... but no more.
"He\'s powerless for the first time since he woke up from the coma," Andrew Lincoln\'s said. "Everything he\'s worked for, for two years, has been shattered in 24 hours.
"So he\'s not in a good space and I think if he makes it through the first episode, then he\'s different. He\'ll be a different man."
(Does anyone really doubt he\'ll make it through the first episode? Nope.)
now has a larger cast of series regulars than at any other point in its history – even if you take into account the upcoming casualties.
With actors Austin Amelio (Negan\'s scarf-aced goon Dwight), Tom Payne (charismatic ally Jesus) and Xander Berkeley (Hilltop creep Gregory) now signed up as full-timers, that makes for 20 major characters (or 19, or 18, after Lucille\'s work is done).
Maybe we do need Negan to thin the herd a little? I mean, would anyone really miss Spencer? Can you even
...and his pet tiger. Yes, Negan\'s not the only highly-anticipated character from the comic series making his TV debut.
A total bad-ass who aids Rick in his war against Negan, Ezekiel is the leader of a community known as the Kingdom. Remember those armoured troops that ran into Carol and Morgan at the close of season six? They\'re his guys.
He also owns a tiger named Shiva, realised on-screen using a mixture of CGI and animatronics – no animals were harmed in the making of this zombie thriller.
While his comic counterpart pursued a romance with Michonne, the show\'s already paired her off with Rick, so we doubt it\'ll go down that path.
"I definitely have to take note that there\'s a seemingly significant portion of the audience that wasn\'t happy with that direction," series creator Robert Kirkman said of last year\'s controversial climax, which provoked viewer outrage and petitions with its refusal to reveal Negan\'s victim.
creative team has taken note of that, and I don\'t know that I would expect a similar cliffhanger at the end of season seven."
Since \'Last Day on Earth\' aired in April, the creative team have been forced to apologise for their folly again and again and again.
So read Kirkman\'s comments as: "Sorry guys, we know we f**ked up – won\'t happen again."
