 Blake's horse Steel
Blake's horse Steel
Genre: Realistic Fiction, Mystery, Drama/Romance

Isaac took the front spot of our group once we stopped at the edge of the driveway. He looked both ways before crossing the mitaani, mtaa and waited on the shoulder of the road. Once Tim crossed next, they walked a few feet into the woods. Apparently, to get to this Blake's house, we had to go through the woods. One kwa one, we went across the dirt road and through the densely packed forest. It seemed like a maze only they knew, dark winding paths, dark beneath the large trees hiding the sun. We travelled in quiet until we reached a clearing.
Here, the sun shone intensely, making me shield my eyes. It was a large field, with sweet smelling green and yellow nyasi that grew well past your knees. In the middle of this field was a quiant little house, although shack was a zaidi suitable word.
Off to the side of the shack was an arena of some sorts, really, it was just a big pile of sand with a fence around it.
Inside the pen was a boy on the biggest, most beautiful horse I had ever seen. The horse was enormous and well built, muscular. In color, the horse was pure white from nose to loins, and from there on, there were dark gray speckles of some sort. The speckles also appeared on all four legs and the tips of the ears. The mane was pure black, straight as a pin, long and smooth looking. The tail started as black but blended into a white gray. The boy seemed concentrated on riding his beast, if not a little frustrated. The boy, I thought, must be Blake. I didn't see anyone else that would have been Marafiki with us. His dad au someone must have been inside because there was a beat up blue pick up truck parked beside the shack.
After a few zaidi dakika of waiting kwa the edge of the clearing and watching Blake perform, he brought his ride to a halt and swung off.
Then, Makayla screeched, "Blake! Hi, Blake!" At first, the horse jumped at the sudden shouting, but Blake put the horse in his place and found the chanzo and waved to us.
Blake had shaggy brown hair. I noticed he had a wicked farmer's tan on his arms and chest. He wiped a veil of sweat off his face and cleaned the horse and then let him wander in the big field, no restraints. Then, Blake called us over to where he sat on the fence railing.
Joey introduced me and Claire to him, and told us his horse's name was Steel, based on the gray coloring of his coat. We talked to Blake, and they decided "we would jiunge in tonight". I didn't know what that meant, and it made me nervous, but I saved that for thinking about later.
Blake called Steel like a dog, and the horse galloped over to us. I stroked his velvety nose. As Claire was petting him, Blake gave her a carrot to feed to the horse. He instructed my little sister to press her fingers together and make her hand flat so Steel would accept the treat. In no time at all, the greedy creature pressed his lips to her hand and practically inhaled the carrot. We laughed at how quickly he took the food.
After a while, Tim declared it was, sadly, time to leave, but promised Blake we would return as promised when the time was right. So, we made our way back through the winding path lined with trees and went across the dirt road to stand in the gravel driveway of our home. It felt strange to say it, but this place was a sekunde home.
