Chapter 6

“Wait! Wait!” I said, needing a moment of processing. “This is real? I’m not dreaming, I’m not hallucinating and this isn’t an extremely well executed prank?”
“No Alana I’m sorry to say but this is real, unbelievable, but real” Chris replied. I turned to look at Patricia, her face unchanged like stone.
“So then what are we going to do? Are wewe bringing me to this Zerokenum guy so he can cut out my heart!?” I exclaimed in sudden alarm. I didn’t think Chris au Patricia (despite her attitude and dislike for me) were capable of such a thing.
“Stop overreacting would you, it’s giving me a headache” Patricia complained. She had a soft accent I couldn’t depict which country it was from but it was much different from Chris and I’s British accents.
“Well forgive me for wanting to go back to my nyumbani in England instead of staying on this island with a psychopathic God after me. What in bloody hell am I going to do?” I felt tears well in my eyes and I stood up to turn away from Chris, I was over reacting on a certain level and it was embarrassing.
“Look Alana, you’re not alone in this” Chris alisema coming to stand beside me. He rolled up the sleeve of his shati to reveal a mark like mine, on the inside of his wrist. It was an AR, well aren’t wewe lucky getting it on your wrist and not your cheek I though.
“So what does the mark stand for?” I asked.
“It stands for which God your connected to, when I was marked no one came for me, but for wewe they did so that means your special. The AR means my real father is Ares, God of bloodlust, violence, war, manly courage and civil order”
“So which God am I connected to?”
“Well wewe see yours is a kuvuka, msalaba not letters so I’m not really sure, all I know is that one of your biological parents had the help of a God when creating you.” He finished.
“So um, what are we going to do exactly?” I asked yet again.
“We’ll all I know is that if it’s Zero your running from you’re going to need my help” Patricia alisema standing up. I had almost forgotten she was there. “Ya see, back in France my parents spent a lot of time training me to fight, so I could look after myself so I can be a big help.” France, it was a French accent I was hearing, I guess she was just as beautiful as the country itself. Knowing I had someone like her on my side was a relief, although I still did not fully trust her. It was that she could glare at me and make me shiver, the fact that I was pretty sure she was doing this for Chris and not for me.
“Ok well we need to keep moving because as soon as they see you’re not at the beach, pwani they’ll come looking” Chris said.
“So was this island Zerokenum’s ‘creative’ idea?” I asked.
“Well yes, wewe see its power detects the presence of God au Goddess’s blood. As soon as it comes in contact with one of us it brings up here. Though I’m not sure all the detail, most is just an educated guess.”
“So were exactly are we going from here? Do wewe have some unspoken plan?” Patricia asked Chris.
“Yes, were going to figure out why Alana is wanted so bad.”
“How?” she asked again.
“By going straight to the source, the temple of the great Zerokenum” he held with determination. “Of course I don’t plan on confronting him, merely sneak into the temple” he finished. Thank goodness I thought. We walked in silence along hidden paths in the jungle. It was a typical Jungle if wewe asked me, wanyama like monkeys and birds could be heard all around. The trees were very tall, the foliage was lush and green, wet with dew. I heard a rustle of leaves behind me and I jumped, tripping over a root and landing on all fours. Chris turned to help me up but I brushed him off saying I was fine.
“Just an animal I think” I alisema to them. We continued walking along the trampled paths, occasionally stopping to drink rain water off leaves. My high tops were now caked in mud so I removed them and discarded them to a family of chimps. My hair stuck to my neck and the heat was having a serious toll on me. I felt my stomach drop, and the world went blurry. I hadn’t eaten at breakfast so my blood sugar was low. I heard the rustle noise again, I turned again but it was no animal, at least not one I recognized. It was larger than a horse in height and width. It was covered in navy blue scales, its eyes burning red. It had at least two rows, its head and body were almost wolfish, despite the scales. It had large claws and a main of hair like a lion, but there was something else off about. Despite my vision it was easy to see, it opened its mouth and struck at me. I lifted my arm in defense, its teeth sunk into my skin and I screamed out in pain. Blood flowed down my arm and dripped on the earth. It released me when out of no were someone kicked it in the head, but I couldn’t see who. I stumbled back, breathing hard and repeating to myself don’t faint don’t faint. Chris came to my side, his mouth was moving but I could hear no words. Blood was pounding in my head. I went limp and blacked out. I hoped to wake up in my kitanda at nyumbani with Leos. Not likely.

Chapter Two

"Look at this view!" screamed Sidney. "Can wewe believe that this architecture dated all the way back to sekunde world war. It still stands today!"
"Blah! Can wewe see these malls! Now this what wewe should be screaming about," alisema Simone. She snapped a picture with her old blackberry. It wasn't as cool as Brooke's iPhone but she wasn't complaining.
"Think about something other then malls," alisema Sidney.
"Is that even possible?" joked Lauren.
They were all riding in a used car that Mr. Rivers had bought. Simone's Aunt Tracey lived in Paris and...

Chapter 17
There is a huge difference between wrong and right
“Did wewe really think,” Azerien paused. “That I wouldn’t notice? That everything would blow over? It’s why wewe were crying wasn’t it? I’m not stupid, Zy, wewe knew and didn’t tell.”
“If father hadn’t killed anyone we wouldn’t be in this mess!”
    “Father did nothing wrong!”
“Killing is wrong and so is...

Alice could still fell the warm breeze glide across her skin and through her blonde streaked strawberry red hair, making it fly every which way. She remembered looking over at he father with his warm brown eyes and brown hair a shade litter then his eyes. His nose big as every. She would always make fun of him for that nose. She remembered leaning in to give him a warm kiss on the check and saying, “I upendo wewe dad.” He looked down at her and said,”I upendo wewe two.” As he turned into the inayofuata road, She gasp. He slams on the breaks but it’s to late. They were heading straight at another...

Chapter 4
Be a disgrace, I’ll mess up your face
“I’m loving this town, I mean one dakika in that hellhole and suddenly I’m popular. Can wewe believe it? I’m not even kidding, and this really hot girl was giving me the look, wewe know Zy, ‘the look’.”
I nodded laughing as Azerien shoveled another handful of spaghetti, tambi into his mouth, father wasn’t nyumbani when we came back and we found he hired a maid. A bit weird and totally awkward, but...
