CHAPTER EIGHT- Allies
“Hey, Edward, can we sit inayofuata to you?”, I asked.
“Sure, sit here”, alisema Edward. I sat down inayofuata to Alice but Edward stopped me.
“Steph, sit here”, he said, as he patted the kiti, kiti cha inayofuata to him. Jasper gave me a look and then my thoughts weren’t my own anymore.
Sis, Jasper thinks that Edward likes you.. want me to tell him anything? Emmett asked.
He thinks? I asked back. I waited a few sekunde until Emmett grin.
He knows replied Emmett, and I saw a smile hiding in the corners of his mouth.
“So, anything good to eat around here”, Emmett asked out loud. Edward gave him a sly look.
“Well, sometimes there are deer”, replied Rosalie.
“You know, road kill”, added Alice, quickly.
“Where do wewe guys live?”, asked Jasper.
“16 Walshore Street”, answered Edward. Emmett gave him a quick nod.
“Do wewe want to come over after school?”, asked Rosalie.
“Absolutely”, I said.
“Great!”, exclaimed Edward. Emmett smiled and looked like he was about to start laughing, but he stopped himself. I tried to push his chair a little, to knock him off of it, but being me, I pushed a little too hard and he slid across the floor until he reached the other side of the cafeteria. At first, Edward, Rosalie and Alice looked shocked, but I grinned and they relaxed. Then we all started chuckling together.
“Emmy! I was just kidding”, I alisema playfully, as I went to help him up. But he had that look in his eyes. The look that alisema this wasn’t over. And as I offered my hand to him, he grabbed it, then pushed me so hard that I flew over Alice’s head and landed roughly on the cafeteria floor. Edward ran to help me up and as I steadied myself, I grinned at Edward, he nodded, and together we pushed Emmett back. But, being me, I got too carried away and Emmett literally went flying through the wall. Jasper got up and stood beside me, in a way that looked like he was trying to protect me from all the humans, glaring at me in awe.
“I work out a lot”, I alisema with a grin.
“Yeah… we’re gym junkies”, added Edward. Everyone was still shocked but got over it and continued eating their lunch. Then Rosalie ran towards Emmett, at human speed, and tended to him. He seemed happy enough to be getting attention from her. Me and Edward gave each other a look and started laughing. We walked towards the vending machine to get ‘a drink’. I chose Pepsi because it’s the only fizzy drink I can endure.
“So Edward, why did wewe act so…, so..”, I started.
“Distant when we met on the beach?”, he finished for me.
“Yeah… wewe acted so”, I started again.
“Human?”, he finished.
“Okay, how do wewe do that?”, I asked, glad that I got out a whole sentence.
“Mind reader”, he answered.
“Ohh, I’m an… object mover”, I replied.
“Why don’t wewe look happy? Telekinesis is better than telepathy”, he said.
“Not really.. but if wewe are telepathic, why didn’t wewe know I was a.. umm, different, on the beach?”, I asked.
“Ohh, I knew what wewe were, but I had to be sure”, he answered. “I’ve been tricked kwa mortals before”, he added.
“Cool… Emmett is telepathic too, and Jasper empathic”, I stated.
“Well, Alice can see the future. Useful but not always helpful, and Esme is compassionate to all creatures”, he replied.
“What about Rosalie?” I asked.
“She has the power of uigizaji like a princess. Well, that’s what she does. She doesn’t have a power”, he said. I smiled, but for some reason he didn’t smile with me.
“What’s wrong?”, I asked.
“Rosalie… she, well, she likes your brother, but she doesn’t seem to like wewe very much”, he replied.
“Why? What have I done?” I asked.
“Nothing, it’s just her. So anyway, do wewe have parents?”, he inquired, changing the subject in an obvious way.
“Yeah, Carlisle, he’s a doctor… I think your sister and ‘mum’ met him at the hospital the other day”, I said.
“He’s your father? I never would have guessed”, he said.
“Well… there wewe go”, I said. Then the kengele rang so we walked off to class together.
Emmett, are wewe okay? I asked.
Yeah, I’m awesome, and Rosalie is awesome as well!!! How fun was that, flying through the air… are wewe okay? he asked.
Yeah fine, I’m with Edward I replied.
I think wewe like him… aww my little sister in love he said.
Emmett, I don’t like him! If anything, he’s an ally, nothing more I stated.
Hmm.. I think I’ll ask Jassie about that, and after that, we stopped talking. Me and Edward spent the remaining saa and a half of school talking. We talking about everything… the sun, animal blood, nighttime, bats and of course, our shared hatred for the Volturi. It was nice, having someone to talk to other than my family. And something I feared would happen took place as well. I found myself falling in upendo with him.
