Chapter One
New house, new school. Different people, but same personalities as all the “cool people” at my old school. Don’t get me wrong, I liked my old school, and I liked the cool people because they were my” cool people” . These idiots won’t be my friends, you’ll see. You’ll all see.
But then again, I also haven’t aliyopewa this place we’re moving to a chance. It’s because I know I won’t fit in. kwa the way, I’m Laurie. I’m sixteen and I’ve just moved from my nyumbani state of New York. zaidi specifically, Manhattan, New York. I’m moving away from the only place I’ve ever known; and the famous city that never sleeps.
My Dad got a new job and is uprooting the whole family to North Carolina. The people there will have country accents and not want any thing to do with the no body from New York. Any way, my seventeen mwaka old brother and I are livid about the whole thing. Nick, (my brother) had a girl friend back nyumbani and his “homies” were there too. Yes, my brother is a wigger, but I upendo him any way.
My brother is the only one that really gets me and he’s seriously my best friend. My parents alisema that I could get my nose pierced after we move, and both me and my brother have decided that I’m going to get my lip pierced, and he’s going to get his ears pierced. Any way like I said, Nick is my best friend and even I can’t say that his wigger Marafiki weren’t amazing.
The thing is, Marafiki like that are hard to find, and that’s in the city. We’re moving to the country. Where people have cows for pets and the people probably smell worse than the cows. This is my new home. The city girl, going to the country. Great. My mom must be thrilled to take us to this place because Nick won’t drug deal anydoor and carry my boxes in. I almost drop them and have to set them down on the table.
    “Oh My God!” I breathe.
My room is amazing! I have a study before my room. In the study there’s a desk, and a leather bench. The walls are white. Behind some French doors is my room. I have an Ethan Allen bed; black head board with a dark blue comforter, my walls are blue and black stripped. I also have a walk-in closet that would make Mariah Carey jealous, and a bath room with a kuoga on one side, and a bath tub separate (of course a toilet and sink too).
But that’s not all, behind some black curtains and another set of French doors is a balcony with an Oscar worthy view of the coast. I can smell the ocean, and I can feel the puff of air and the gentle wind as it grazes my cheek.
“Yo!” My Brother says, announcing his arrival. “Dude, your room is the bomb! I guess they got us both nice rooms this time. Who are wewe gonna have break your kitanda with wewe since your boyfriend isn’t here?” Nick says.
“You’re such a dick, why’d wewe even have to bring that up?” I say.
“’Cuz wewe have broken your kitanda with one of your boyfriends before.” He says, “I liked him, he broke my kitanda too.” Nick says.
     “What the fuck?!” I say.
“I’m just messin’ fam. Y’all know I kicked his punda when I found him fuckin you. How can some one even break a bed?” He says.
I fold my hands together and look at him.
“Well Nick, wewe see, when wewe find a nice boy and bring him home, you’ll find out how I broke my bed.” I say.
“What is wewe tryin to say?” Nick asks.
“You’ll become aware of it in the locker room when we start school.” I say. He lifts me up and throws me over his shoulder. He leans over the banister.
“Take it back of I drop you.” He says.
I scream. “I take it back!”
“Yo! She’s for sale, any body want her?” Nick says.
“You sick fucker! Put me down.” I scream again. He laughs and sets me on my feet. “Watch the door kengele ring now.” I say.
“Chill. Just remember to never say that about me again, ya feel me?” Nick says.
    “Whatever.” I say.
“You too! And your mom!” He says.
“We have the same mom.” I say.
“I know, she got a butt don’t she?” He says.
    “Nick!!!” I shriek.
“I’m just messin.” He says. I mfuko wa fedha, mfuko my lips and roll my eyes.
“Ayee, do wewe need help unpacking au not?” He says.
“Sure.” I say. After unpacking practically all my stuff (and being ridiculed because Nick found my thongs) I fall asleep on my new kitanda and dream about my new town.
I’m in the hall at school, talking to some people, when this GORGEOUS guy shows up and says ‘You’re beautiful.’ I smile at him and say, ‘So are you.’ He kisses me then, and my mind goes to the both of us at the alter, Me in my dress, my hair curly. Him in a tux, his brown curly hair framing his face making him look like a God.
