She spun around at the screech that mgawanyiko, baidisha the night. They were letting her and her Marafiki know they were still there, still coming, still hunting.
Lisa and her Marafiki had been out for the evening hunting down a party they had heard about. They had taken a shortcut through an alley, and as they were passing a kuvuka, msalaba alley that let to a cul-de-sac, they heard a scream. Running to try to help the person who screamed, they saw 5 men attacking a young man in the middle of the closed in area.
They called out to the attackers in an attempt to stop the attack, but when they saw the men up close their blood ran cold.
They bloody mouth of the men had the classic elongated teeth. Their faces were twisted into a bestial batlike visage. And their eyes were blood red.
They were Vampires.
The Largest chuckled in and evil way and said, "So, zaidi prey for our amusement.
Jim, they oldest of the group, yelled "Run!" and pushed at the girls to get them moving back the way they came, breaking their horrified trance. They girls bolted, screaming in terror. The Guys held back, determined to protect the girls as best they could.
As the Girls reached the street, they heard the screams of their dates. They all knew the guys were either dead, au dieing.

The Virus struck and spread quickly. Most people did not know how and where it started, only that suddenly almost everyone was sick. Only a select few in the U.S. Government had a clue as to it's origins.
Most got better within 3 days. It seemed zaidi like a light case of the Flu than anything else. Older people, those who were already critically ill and some younger children died, however.
But others changed.
It seems that a lot of the myths we've read about, watched in movies, and heard rumors about weren't completely mythical.
wewe see, the virus struck at a genetic level. Those affected kwa it and who got better were immune to any further effects, but they had been subtlety changed. The most wide spread common effects were that they "Scourges" of the modern age, AIDS, Cancers and Hepatitis, were eradicated.
Most doctors were amazed. The ones working with scientists at a Certain Branch of the U.S. Government (one that didn't pacifically exist) had expected it.
In truth, they had planned it.
The virus was no new. It was as old as mankind. It only affected a very few people over the centuries. And these victims changed.
Vampires, mtu-bweha and some other Humanoid mythical creatures, as it turns out, were real. They were the survivors of this virus.
Due to something in their genetic makeup, one in a million people would change.
Most lived fairly peaceful, though off times strange, lives. Though a few were driven insane kwa the change. It was these incidents that brought on the legends of Vampires, Lycanthropes, Beastmen in the woods, and lizardmen in the Swamps, to name a few.
These Mutants were stronger, faster, had enhanced senses and elongated lifespans. Some had claws, and prominent fangs, some grew hair all over their bodies, some grew larger in size, some became lizardlike in appearance. And there were a few other kinds as well.
The Wanyonya damu did, indeed, need blood to survive, but only about a cup a day, and any Mammal would do..
The Lycanthropes were genetically able to change from a full human to a Hybrid form of man and animal. Think the old Wolfman with Lon Chaney, though not restricted to just wolves.
But on a full moon, they would change to a zaidi prominant form. These days known as Garou, au Lycans.
They became zaidi bestial, but retained their intelligence and personalities. Though the intensity of the pain during the change drove some of them mad. These became zaidi violent, attacking anything they could get their claws on.
Scientists being what they are, especially those working for Government agencies, will play with things they probably shouldn't.
One such group acquired a sample of the virus, jokingly called the Myth Virus, and in breaking it down and experimenting with it, discovered that it had the ability to eliminate many forms of Genetic and Immune diseases.
They problem is, they didn't have a clue where it came from.
A group of renegade government do-gooders decided it should be released onto the populace to destroy disease and make the species stronger.
There are some seriously stupid and naive idiots working for the government....
They made the scientists develop it into an airborne strain and released it around the country, thinking it would run it's course and die out. But not before changing everyone in the U.S.
Only problem is, it reproduced zaidi rapidly than they thought, and didn't die as quickly as expected. (Hello Murphy, the world is waiting)
It was carried to all parts of the world in a months time. Though it had the desired effect on every living being on Earth, it also had an undesirable effect on 1 in 750,000. New versions of the Legendary creatures were born.
There were not as docile as the ones in the past. They fed, but killed their victims savagely, preferring humans as their targets. Though many Governments tried to cover their existence up, there was no way to keep the public from finding out and panicking. (THANK wewe INTERNET AND SOCIAL MEDIA!)
Elusive and powerful, these beings were able to into the dark recesses of the world.
But there was one zaidi surprise yet to be sprung that would scientists and the Mutants.
The girls ran in a blind panic, not knowing where they were going, and not realizing that they were headed into an even zaidi secluded area of the city.
Nor did they notice the shadows that followed them, leaping from rooftop to rooftop, enjoying the thrill of the hunt and the taste of the girls fear on the breeze.
The Vampires, caught up in the chase, also didn't notice that they, too, were being followed....
One Vampire, sped ahead of his pack, diving down into an alley. Waiting near the entrance, he lashed out and grabbed the trailing member of the fleeing girls kwa the hair and dragged her back into the shadows. The other girls, not seeing what had happened, ran on, while the remaining members of the pack followed.
The Vampire threw the Girl against the wall, and laughed as she slid down. She cowered in a dazed ball on the dirty pavement, watching in terror as he approached.
The Vampire stretched his claws and peeled back his lips, mostly for effect, as he prepared to pounce on the girl.
So intent on his prey was he, that he did not even see the shadow that him from the left, driving him into the wall. He saw darkness as he felt a hand grip his face.
Then a flash of brilliant light and a sense of intense pain, but only for a moment...
Then nothing more...
The girl, not fully understanding what had just happened, and slightly flash blinded, only saw the new shadow disappear up the ukuta to the roof.
kwa this time, the other girls had decided to try and hide in a building.
Finding a door that was not locked, they njiwa in and slammed it shut behind them. They locked it, and looking around the room they were in, discovered it to be a reception area. They quickly pushed furniture up against the door and ran to the door that seemed to lead to the warehouse. They locked this and piled zaidi furniture in front of it.
Looking around the room they discovered 2 things.
One, the room had no windows.
And two, there was a working phone.
They quickly dialed 911, and actually got through to the Emergency Dispatcher.
Who informed them that their Special Mutant Unit was already tied up on a call about a Sasquatch that was throwing rocks at passing traffic on the interstate. She told them to hold on, she would be sending regular patrols, as soon as there were enough to handle 5 Wanyonya damu at one time.
The girls, trembling in fear, waited...
And when the 3 hammer blows shook the front door and the furniture blocking it, they all screamed in terror.
'Open the door and we will make it quick. But if we have to bust in after you, wewe will all die slowly and horribly!', then he laughed and pounded on the door again, eliciting a new series of screams from the trapped girls.
Prior to this, one vampire had mgawanyiko, baidisha off from the pack and headed to the back of the warehouse to cut off any escape. He had climbed to the roof and found a skylight down into the warehouse. He looked around at the Aisles of shelves and the packing lines. He spotted the rear door to the office and laughed a low evil laugh.
so intent was he on examining the door, he failed to see the Shadow at the Skylight.
to his credit, he did feel the rush of air a sekunde before a weight slammed him into the concrete floor of the warehouse.
Recovering quickly, he rolled away from his attacker, then njiwa for him.
But the other surprised him kwa moving faster than the Vampire expected, grabbing him kwa the throat and again slamming him into the concrete.
The Other pinned him to the floor kwa placing his foot on the Wanyonya damu chest, grabbed both sides of his head and ripped it from his shoulders.
Still clutching the head, the Other rose back up through the skylight...
A moment later, the remaining 3 Wanyonya damu spun around as something thudded on the ground behind them and rolled to a stop in the streetlight.
There, in the single beam of light, sat the head of their fellow pack member, the shocked look still on his face, the red eyes now white in death.
All 3 looked up as something lightly touched down in the mitaani, mtaa beyond the head.
They saw a Dark Silhouette dressed in a dark colored Duster au trench coat. The Eyes of the Man glowed blue with crackling energy.
The man chuckled a low evil laugh, and moving faster than even the Wanyonya damu could imagine, flew forward, kicking one into the ukuta and grabbing the other 2 kwa their throats.
All 3 Wanyonya damu felt the tingling sensation of electricity in the air, building as the mans arms began to glow.
Then the 2 being held began to dance in his hands as they were enveloped in a crackling cascade of electricity, the bolts arcing between them, until finally they burst into flame.
The man tossed the now burning blood beasts aside and stared pointedly at the remaining vampire.
the 4 Girls had heard the thud in the warehouse.
A short time later something slammed against the ukuta outside and 2 screeches of agony mgawanyiko, baidisha the night. They heard scrabbling against the wall, then silence again.
They all screamed and jumped away from the front door as it exploded inward, a body flying through and striking the ukuta behind them, then falling to the floor, where it remained, battered and motionless.
They all looked at the dead vampire in shock, seeing the burn marks on it's throat.
And then all looked as a tall man dressed in a black t-shirt, black jeans, black boots and a black duster stepped glided over the debris in the doorway, and gently set down before them.
"Ladies, my name is Volt. I'm here to help....."
Fin.

DOVEWING PVO
Tigerheart and Dovewing had finished playing around and were lying in the Great Oak together.
Dovewing was breathing in Tigerheart's soft muscular scent and playing with his tail gently. He was sharing tongues with her and talking about each other's life together.
Dovewing was content to be there with him, it had been ages and there were no other Cats here, no Bumblestripe, no jealousy. No Ivypool and Toadstep, Cinderheart and Liomblaze and everybody telling her to get a mate, like Bumblestripe.
She was there with who she loved and who she cared about most.
TIgerheart began talking to her slowly, calmly, contently.
"Dovewing, I upendo wewe zaidi than ever!" He purred.
"I upendo wewe too, Tigerheart." Dovewing murmured.
She crouched down and started to lick his smooth fur, manyoya and he played around.
"Tigerheart..." Dovewing began.
"Yeah?" Tigerheart asked.
"Will wewe songesha to ThunderClan?" She asked.
