A/N: And now the few of the good and many of the bad and the ugly moments begin!! :-)
Chapter Twenty
Jamie groaned loudly when she woke up on her kitanda with a blanket over her body and was suffering the nastiest hangover she ever experienced since the Marine Ball she went with Michael almost two years expect that Michael isn’t there. He’s still in California, probably packing his things and heading to the airport and flies his way nyumbani today to be with his wife and three kids. From thinking about him, Jamie felt like she’s about to run over to the nearby bathroom and puke into either the sink, toilet, bath tub, au the small trashcan which she did without noticing the glass of water that Sean gave her in case she needed it on the bedside table.
After five dakika of puking into the toilet, Jamie got herself up and walked inayofuata to the sink to slaps water on her face to wake herself up and the moment she did that, she reached her hand over to the medicine cabinet over the sink and turned the little knob. The moment she did that, she let the small door take off and sekunde later, she grabbed her hairbrush to brush her hair and a small bottle of aspirins to stop making her vomiting.
Another five dakika passed kwa and after brushing her hair and putting it into a low ponytail, grabbing two tablets of aspirins and once they were in her mouth and chewed on, Jamie grabbed a small glass of water to wash down the uchungu, chungu taste of the aspirins the moment she smelled the scent of batter cooking over a stove from under the bathroom door. Someone is making breakfast.
Thinking the cook down probably is Mac but until she’s old enough, Mac Thomas is not allowed to be in front of the stove and cooking anything but moments later; Jamie was thinking that the cook might be Sean, making the girls and Jake some breakfast instead of their sick mother. Agreeing about that, Jamie nodded to herself in front of the mirror and alisema to herself with a smile, “Yup, it might be him.”
To see if this is really him and after brushing her teeth, spitting out the paste, drinking some zaidi water, and wiping some off her face with a washcloth, Jamie let it land on the tile floor and headed downstairs, through the hallway and once she stopped at the jikoni door frame, Jamie ducked her head into the doorway to see if her thought is true? It actually is.
In front of her was Sean who is teaching Mac how to flip the batter on the pan to cook the other side of the batter perfectly, Jamie thinks. Jamie thought of that because Mac kept spilling some of the batter onto the floor and kept stepping on it with her small bare feet. After watching that, Jamie realized that little Izzie is helping them with the breakfast also kwa pouring the juisi into the glasses but with this, she kept spilling it while pouring them in and from the look of this, the girls are making a big mess inside their jikoni while Jake was laughing on his highchair and smiling at the same time, Boyd was wagging his brown tail with its paws on the small plastic meza, jedwali attached the highchair and licking the one mwaka old’s face in the background.
After about staring at the making of the breakfast and smiling at her three kids with Sean, Izzie noticed her watching them and with her big blue eyes, she alisema to her, “Mama! We making some pancakes with Mr. Sean. Wanda see?” and the moment she told her that, Izzie set the carton of machungwa, chungwa juisi on the jikoni counter and headed over to Jamie with her arms wide opened.
Squatted down to her middle child’s height, Jamie put Izzie into her arms, gave her a big hug, and the moment she kissed her daughter’s forehead, Jamie alisema to Izzie, “Morning, Iz. Yeah, I want to see.”
After getting kissed kwa her mother and still in her mother’s arms, Izzie looked up to her mother with her blue eyes and nodded at her while smiling and was about to grab her mother’s hand to lead over to Sean and Mac but at the same time she was about to do that, Jamie picked herself up while holding Izzie in her arms and walked over to the stove where Sean and Mac were finishing up the last batch of the pancakes.
When the two girls with the same blue eyes got there, Mac sat down on the jikoni counter inayofuata to the stove, pouring some batter on the pan and letting it cooking. Mac put the bowl down after doing that and turned to her mother who is still holding Izzie in her arms with a big smile on her face and her big brown eyes, she greeted her mother kwa saying to her, “Hey, Mama. Want some pancakes? Sean made those and I helped!”
Seeing the huge amount of lighty brown pancakes on the large platter, Jamie smiled at her oldest daughter and alisema to Mac, “Hey, Mac. Yeah, I upendo to have some pancakes and wewe did a great job with it!”
Mac gave her another huge smile on her face when she heard that and after Mac shown her mother that, Sean turned around to her in front of her with a plastic flipper in his with his dress shirt’s sleeves rolled up to at his elbows and with a smile on his face and his blue eyes shining at her, Sean greeted the woman kwa saying to her, “Morning, Princess! How was your beauty rest?”
Knowing that Sean just made of the first joke of the morning with her hivi karibuni experience of her hangover, Jamie dryly laughed at his joke and alisema back to him, “I’m a little sick but I’m fine. How the kids were doing while I was suffering?”
With a slight grin on his face, Sean told Jamie that the kids were doing fine and once he came in and saw them coming down the stairs, Mac and Izzie ran over to them and jumped on him and demanded him to make some breakfast for them.
Picturing that moment, Jamie smiled at him and alisema to him, “That’s great but how Jake was doing?” With the same grin on his face, Sean answered her swali kwa saying to her, “Jake was into his sleeping when I got to his room to wake him up and on the way to Jake’s room, I saw that your room was wide opened and didn’t wewe know that wewe are a loud snorer?”
Jamie playfully slapped Sean’s arm for asking her that and in return, Sean was pretending that he’ s in pain right now which made Mac and Izzie kind of scared of that, thinking that what they saw is true. Seeing the girls’ scared faces, Sean stopped pretending and asked the girls, “Who want some breakfast?”
With a big smile on their faces, the both of them alisema to him, “ME!” After hearing that, Sean turned to Jamie to ask her the same question. In return, Jamie smiled at him and alisema to him, “Yeah.”
The moment he heard that, Sean gave her a boyish grin on his face to Jamie when another voice came into the room and coming from the doorway. “Can I have some too?” asked the voice.
To see who is asking that, Jamie and Sean turned around to the doorway and was quite surprised of who they saw. In front of them is Michael who was staring at them with a suitcase inayofuata to his shoes, also looking quite surprised of what he saw.

Water
My only escape
Where for once my arms that are too pale and scrawny bend perfectly
Where I feel perfect
This is where my spirit will stay
When my body turns grey and dies away
Water
Where my legs that are too chubby au fat kick so strong
I feel perfect
This is the place my spirit will stay
When my body turns grey and dies away
Water
Where pain only makes me only go faster
Better
Prettier
Perfectly
Water
Where my face that's not pretty in never seen
Hidden in waves that make me feel free
This is the place my spirit will stay
When my body turns grey and dies away
Water
When I used to stab myself with needles
And let the blood bleed out
Suddenly is the last thing on my mind
And when I do spill blood
It's only on the days my mom says I can't go
To the water
Where my spirit will stay
When my body grows old and dies away
My only escape
Where for once my arms that are too pale and scrawny bend perfectly
Where I feel perfect
This is where my spirit will stay
When my body turns grey and dies away

I sit and wonder…
Whatever happened to the days?
Watching BSG and Lost with Charles,
Playing nyota Wars with him,
And Shortys?
Whatever happened to the days?
Of Josh helping me through the grief of my father’s death.
Whatever happened to the days?
Of chicken and egg saladi sandwiches at the SUB and take-out Chinese for dinner?
Whatever happened to the days?
Of GIRLS NIGHT OUT!
Whatever happened to the days?
Of spring at KU?
Whatever happened to the days?
Of KU’s waterfall and walks at midnight…
Whatever happened to the days?
Of all my Marafiki at KU, and what great Marafiki they were.
